Agona East NDC executives cry over delay in primaries

Agona Nsaba (C/R), Sept 10, GNA- Mr Tetteh Danyo, Agona East Constituency Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concern about the delay in conducting primaries for parliamentary candidate in the constituency.

"Agona East constituency primary is long over due and is going to affect the preparation of the party in the electioneering campaign" Mr Danyo said.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona Nsaba, Mr Danyo cautioned that the constituency executives would not hesitate to protest against any decision to disqualify any of the two contestants.

Mr Theophilus Maranga, a Lawyer in New York City, USA and Mr Samuel Kweku Adu-Yeboah the incumbent, have filed their papers to contest the seat.

He said the National and Regional Executives fixed July 29, 2004, for the primaries but it was postponed.

Mr Danyo alleged that the delay had caused rumours that one of the contestants had been disqualified.

The Vice Chairman said the disqualification of any of the contestants would not be in the interest of the party.

He, therefore, appealed to Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the flag bearer of NDC to intervene and solve the problem.
