Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has strongly refuted reports suggesting that she has defected from the camp of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to that of Kennedy Agyapong.
In a press disclaimer issued on Tuesday, Adwoa Safo described the circulating rumours as “entirely false, baseless, and without merit.” She emphasised that at no point has she shifted her support or political allegiance from Dr Bawumia, whom she continues to regard with deep respect and admiration.
“I continue to hold Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in high esteem for his visionary leadership, humility, and dedication to the progress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the nation,” she stated.
Adwoa Safo further reaffirmed her belief in Dr Bawumia’s competence and innovation, describing his tenure as Vice President as “sterling” and proof of the kind of leadership Ghana needs for the future.
She also underscored that consistency, loyalty, and faith in proven leadership remain the cornerstones of her political philosophy, dismissing attempts to misrepresent her stance as deliberate misinformation.
“Any attempt to misrepresent my position should be disregarded with the contempt it deserves,” she asserted.
The former Dome-Kwabenya legislator, who has been a long-serving member of the ruling NPP, has in recent years maintained a relatively quiet political posture. However, her latest statement reaffirms her unwavering loyalty to the Vice President and the governing party as it prepares for the next general elections.
The former minister’s clarification comes amid ongoing political realignments and speculation within the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
