Ade Coker dissociates self with calls to remove NHIA boss

Mr Kobina Ade-Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Wednesday denied speculations that he is behind a group orchestrating the removal of the head of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) from office.

He said in a statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency that it is unfortunate that he is being linked to a group calling itself Alliance for the Empowerment of NDC Executives, which is allegedly calling for the removal of Mr Sylvester Mensah.

“I know the current Chief Executive will treat the story with the contempt it deserves. Fact is that Mr Sylvester Mensah is a very good friend of mine and he knows that he has always enjoyed my unflinching support in his position as Chief Executive of NHIA.

“Mr Mensah is a hardworking guy. Politically, he has been one of the backbones of my position as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman. Again he has been working tirelessly to sustain the NHIS programme and I will not support any moves to remove him as Chief Executive Officer of NHIA,” Mr Ade-Coker said.
