Addison, Bright petition NPP

Philip Addison, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Klottey Korle constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has submitted a petition to the party’s elders over last Sunday’s primary in the constituency.

Lawyer Addison was joined by Vicky Bright from Okai Koi South constituency and a multitude of his supporters as they marched to the party’s head office at Asylum Down, Accra, to submit the petition.

According to Norman Tetteh, campaign manager for Mr Addison, among the issues they wanted the party to address were the illegalities in the entire election process, uncertain date for voting and the fact that half of the delegates did not vote in the party’s Klottey Korle parliamentary election.

“We have successfully presented our petition. The petition as we speak is in very capable hands. It was presented to the director of operation, Mr Antwi Agyei. He has further assured all of us that our petition would duly be served to the committee selected to handle petitions,” Mr Tetteh said.

Mr Addison, who was the lead lawyer for the NPP in the 2012 presidential election petition case, polled 22 votes against his main competitor, Nii Noi Nortey, who won the primaries with 393 votes. The third candidate, Nii Adjei Tawiah, polled 19 votes.

The legal gem had earlier said that the election was being rushed through by some party executives.

It would be recalled that supporters of the various candidates earlier clashed at the headquarters over the timing of the poll.
