54 NDC Members Defect to NPP

Aduampong (Ash), Sept. 14, GNA - About 54 card- bearing members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), in New Aduampong, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti, have defected to the New Patriotic Party.

Salifu Bukare, the Treasurer and spokesperson of the group, a Zongo community, mentioned reasons such as aggravating economic hardships, unfulfilled promises by the ruling government, poor and uninspiring leadership of the NDC, deceptive politics and among other things, as some of the reasons for their defection.

He said they did not vote for a promise for "a better Ghana agenda," but voted for 'A Better Ghana Agenda."

He said their Health Insurance Cards are now "white elephants," and that it was impossible for them to seek medical attention without paying bills.

"We want a leader who would inspire us by his deeds"

He called on other Zongo Communities to come on board to oust the ruling in the next election.

The NPP Chairman for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, Mr Anthony Owusu Asenso, at a ceremony, held at the New Aduampong Pentecost Church Premises to welcome the defectors into the party, commended them for their courageous and bold decision to join the NPP.

He urged them to maintain their decision to join the party and immediately start campaigning in the Zongo communities for the party to win more people to the party.
