After the successful introduction of the Organisation, (Okwahuman Association, Switzerland), on 8th May, this year, the Kwahus in Switzerland met again last Saturday, 3rd July, in Zurich to elect its executive members who have now taken over the running of the organisation from the founding members.
The colourful event brought together Kwahus from the various Cantons in Switzerland who came to exercise their franchise. It was supervised by an independent electoral commissioners led by Mr. Kingsley Bancs. The chairman of the Brong- Ahofo Union in Switzerland, Nana Opoku Ware, was also among the commissioners.
Dr. Abena Esther Keller-Robinson was elected as the President after beating two other contestants, Mr. Cudjoe Osei and Mr. Joseph Ansong-Boateng. Mr. Cudjoe Osei who finished second was elected as the Vice President. Mr. Kwame Amo was elected as the General Secretary with Mrs. Mabel Addo Amankwah as his assistant. Mr. Martin Peprah Asiamah who won as the Organiser will be assisted by Mr. Seth Mireku who finished second.
Mrs. Cecilia Otchere Oswald defeated two other contestants, Mr. Henry Nyarko and Nana Yaa Korantemaah to become the Association?s Financial controller / Treasurer. She is to be assited by Mr. Henry Nyarko who placed second. Mr. Frank Ampadu-Boateng who lost in the General Secretary race stood for and defeated Mr. George Mensah for the post of a Public Relations Officer. And Mr. Edward Nyarko was elected as the porter unopposed.
Mr. Kwaku Boatin, a Council of elders member, reminded the gathered members of their resposibilities and how the to move the organisation forward to achieve its aims and objectives.
Mr. Kwame Amo advised the members to visit their home towns any time they are in Ghana. This he said would give them the chance to know the problems facing the traditional area and the need for them to help.
The occasion officially came to an end after Pastor James Otchere had led the elected officers to swear an oath and prayed.
