More than 200 National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth at Sawaba, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have crossed carpet to the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to them, their decision to defect is borne out of the fact that after being born into the NDC party they have come to the realization that the Mahama Administration is unable to solve the country’s harsh economic situation after it had plunged Ghana into an economic mess.

Speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 FM, the leader of the group Sadat Abubakar stated that after seven years of the Mills-Mahama administration in power, the government is unable to lay claim to any programme that has impacted positively on the welfare of ordinary Ghanaian, adding that Ghana is still surviving on the legacies of ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor.

He enumerated interventions such as the free maternal health system, school feeding programme, National Health Insurance Scheme, Metro Mass Transport system among many others as some of the laudable social programmes Ghanaians will salute the NPP administration for.

Sadat Abubakar expressed their preparedness to work relentlessly to ensure victory for the NPP in the upcoming 2016 elections.
