The Upper East Taekwondo Association has benefited from a training tour spearheaded by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), with support from the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).

A team of three Peace Corps from WTF arrived in the country last week to begin a six regional training tour, with Upper East as the first point of call.

In the region, the team put up a performance at the just-ended Upper East Regional Basic Schools Sports Festival, which took place at the Bolgatanga Senior High School.

They also trained with the Eagle Taekwondo Club in Bolgatanga and also had a training session with the Evergreen International Preparatory School’s taekwondo club.

The school kids, aged between five and seven, were taken through the basic rudiments of the taekwondo art.

After the exercise with the kids, the team then visited the Zorko and Bongo Senior High schools and had training sessions with them.

Their final programme was at the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High and the Bolgatanga Senior High Schools yesterday, where they held training sessions with the students.

Their next stop tomorrow will be the Northern Regional capital Tamale to begin the next phase of the training tour.

On arrival in Accra, they were met by the President of the GTF, Mr Frederick Lartey Otu, together with other National Executives, who led them to pay a courtesy call on the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Minister of Youth and Sports.
