Accra, Dec. 27, GNA - Accra Great Olympics Bilal Mohammed's late masterpiece from 35yards free kick wrapped up a 2-0 victory over visiting New Edubiase United to unite the disgruntled "Blues" in their Week 12 Glo Premiership game played at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on Sunday. The 'Wonder Club' who needed a win to prosper in the 16-team League, began the duel with their ambitions well cut out but laboured in the opening half where the visitors held their own in the less entertaining game. The host struggled in a manner that agitated their fans to hurl insults and threats on everything in sight, players, technical team and match officials inclusive that occasionally triggered feud among themselves. The second half began with New Edubiase coming into the picture after 15 minutes when Olympics had their stars to thank after the post denied Seidu Bensi from getting his side ahead.
Olympics survival and intimidation by their supporters propelled the team upfront and when they invaded their visitor's goal area seven minutes after the hour mark, Mohammed Latif got the opener; profiting from a goal mouth area scramble that witnessed several blocked attempts at goal before the ball was finally scrambled into the net to the joy of the home fans. The goal from then calmed down the violent and vociferous supporters and whilst they sat on thorns praying for another goal, Olympic earned a free-kick just around the area.
Mohammed popped up to take the responsibility of effecting the dead-ball and the petit player struck a masterpiece that left United's goalkeeper James Nanor helpless and lost in transit to send the partisan supporters into wild jubilation.
The goal immediately soothed the supporters who for once put aside insults, arguments and disagreement, turning them into cheers that synchronise Mohammed's name and Olympics as they victors.
