All Set For Greater Accra Hockey Knockout Semi-Finals

The battle for final places in the Greater Accra Hockey Knockout begins this weekend with exciting action in semi-final matches at the National Hockey Pitch in Accra. The match in the A-Men Division will be between League Champions CEPS and Exchequers of the Bank of Ghana. CEPS defeated Golden Sticks of Ghana Commercial Bank last week by four goals to one on penalties after a goalless game, and are bent on adding the knockout title to the league title. Exchequers, who defeated Real Ambassadors by 5-0 in regulation time last week, will want to compensate themselves and their teeming fans for an unimpressive season. It will be a tough encounter and a challenge that will set the tone for an uncompromising duel.

Trustees of SSNIT await the winner of the CEPS and Exchequers match for the finals. Trustees on their way to the finals beat Marine Sticks of Ghana Navy 4-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time last week. Marine Sticks played an exciting and inspiring game, but once again failed to glitter when it matters. In the Senior Division, Multistix will have a tough task ahead when they meet Citizens. Citizens made things soar for Multistix in the league this season, and will once again come into the game highly motivated. It will certainly be an interesting encounter as Multistix have vowed to white wash Citizens in a bid not to end this season without silverware. The second match in the Senior Division will feature 2008 Gala and League Champions NDK Financiers against Veterans. Financiers will have to lift up their game if they still want to keep their promise of picking up all silverwares at stake this season.

In the Women Division, Bronze medallist in the African Club Championship CEPS and Extinguishers of Fire Services will attempt to undo each other. The difficult tie that confronts the two sides leaves the game in a sort of cliff-hanger, requiring only the action to solve. In the other match, Reformers quest to make it double this season comes under severe test when they face the wrath of Police. Reformers will have to reach deep in their reserves to contain their opponents.

The fixtures are as follows:

Multistix vs Citizens 8:00am (Senior Division)

Financiers vs Veterans 9:30am (Senior Division)

Reformers vs Police 11:00am (Women Division)

Extinguisher vs CEPS 2:00pm (Women Division)

Exchequers vs CEPS 3:30pm (Men Division)
