Spinal Awareness Classic Golf scheduled for June 13

Tema, June 4, GNA - The maiden Spinal Awareness Classic Golf Championship tees off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, June 13.

Mr Ato Endmann, General Manager of the Celebrity Golf Club who disclosed this at Tema on Thursday, said the one-day competition which is open to amateur golfers throughout the country, forms part of activities earmarked for the celebrations of this year's 'Spinal Awareness Week'.

He said about 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which would be supported by the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs and the Chiropractic Wellness Centre. Mr Endmann said the competition would be played in accordance with the local rules of the Club and the rules of the World Golf governing body.

He said entry requirements for the competition which is expected to attract about 150 participants, has handicap 18 and 24 respectively.

Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Celebrity Club would lead his team which would include Joseph Ampofo, Theophilus Asampong and Abdul Aziz-Amankwa.

Mike Aggrey, newly-elected Captain of the Achimota Golf Club is expected to lead his side which would include seasoned golfers like Charles Tabi, Dan Dennis, Mike Ezan, Yaw Assah-Sam and Matthias Dorfe. There would be prizes for 'The Longest Drive on Hole 18' and the Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17'. 04 June 09
