Are there no other Ghanaians who can be given the same privileges of no taxes or delayed customs duties to import machinery to do similar work. I believe in capitalism and private ventures but in the case of Ibrahim most of his wealth has been directly linked with government contracts to amass wealth. This ill gotten wealth is what I abhor -- I wonder if there is any government contract that Ibrahim's many businesses is not a part of. This is a shame and why Ghana is at the top of the corruption list.

You see, I find Ghanaians an interesting lot. Just because your brother is a president, you can't fight for any government contract. At least that seems to be the line of thinking of npp people. Yet we have ken ofori-atta, a relative of the president borrowing money on our behalf without caring about the interest rate just so his bank can make 8-10% commissions on the billions he's borrowing on our behalf. That is fine with npp people and they defend it.They defend agyapa, they defend kelni gvg, they defend the blatant engagement in destructive minerals mining by members of government but when it comes to Ibrahim mahatma, he is not even allowed to even go through normal process to get a government contract he's been working on for over three years including seismic testing and prospecting. The data he generated from his sweat is what the government gave to to Chinese as proof that we had bauxite in commercial quantities.

Folks, the problem facing Ghana is the secret manner in which the NDC or NPP governments often do business by doling out huge contracts or concessions without any benefit of public bidding to ensure transparency while allowing the citizens to know how their natural resources are handled by the government. At this point, no one knows whom to believe. Thus, the Akufo-Addo government should make public all contracts and concessions granted by the departing NDC government. The Akufo-Addo government should also make public all contracts and concessions it has been responsible for since assuming power. The public has a right to know about these transaction instead of ping-pong accusations flying back and forth between these two political parties. The people of Ghana need transparency in government dealings, not accusations being leveled by party officials or business persons tied to these parties. Both NDC and NPP can't ask the people of Ghana to vote for them, but then keep the same voters in dark about government business the very minute they assume power. Government business is the people's business, and the people rightfully deserve to be informed about these transactions instead of them being cloaked in secrecy. Apparently, both the NDC and NPP think the people of Ghana are only good as voters, but ones who deserve to be informed about government dealings that directly impact on them now and into the future.
