This is what some of these riff-raffs must be made to do ---- community service amidst punishment. Services that will be beneficial to society but also make them think twice before acting!

Good write-up but the mortuary aspect I disagree. Offenders can be made to clean the gutters and streets as punishment

The problems will not go away. That is because we don't look for solutions , instead we look for problems and think we can wish they will go away by cutting them off. Even a person who has had a cancerous growth removed must have chemotherapy. What makes people who look just like you do whattheydo? Is it hunger, anger or lack of knoknowledge. These are age old problems.

First, thanks for taking your time to highlight on the endemic lawlessness in Ghana. As something I and others have been focusing on for many years now, in fact, decades, with no one paying attention to me, I find it a bit hypocritical the spate of condemnations, etc., following the killing of Capt. Mahama.
Did Anas not even make a undercover video titled Spirit Child focusing on the murder of children suspected to be witches and wizards, whatever, in northern Ghana? Did a British disabled woman not make a recent video focusing on how disabled people are treated and even babies suspected of being bad spirits killed?
Lawlessness starts from the highest echelons of govt to the streets.
Now, what I find reprehensible is that offenders be made to go clean mortuaries and copses. That's a job some are gainfully doing, not as a form of punishment. If the writer is afraid of dead bodies, not everybody is, so mortuary work shouldn't be stigmatised further with this suggestion.
There are prescribed penalties for most offences in Ghana. Simply apply them. If not effective, revise them and make them stiffer. If not adequate, introduce new ones. If implementing say a hard labour sentence meant sending prisoners to clean a mortuary cos the attendant or cleaner was absent, so be it. But, there should be no sentence that one should go and clean a mortuary.
Well said:send them there to clean those shit
