Ghanaians are hypocrites and dishonest. We are not developing as a country because we are all corrupt and pretenders. What a shame!

Our country Ghana is bleeding for lack of diligence and savvy business practices. The difference between us and many other civilizations is secrecy couched in sordid culture of silence and superstitious beliefs. Whereas business in other civilizations is a family affair, we Africans and moreso Ghanaians would rather deal with total strangers who have no loyalty to our vision.
Those who build their businesses from scratch, nurture, and grow them successfully are assumed to be intelligent than the population on average, and if the writer's dad was in computers or software business as at the time she describes, then her dad might have been highly sophisticated. With his intelligence and sophistication in mind, it is just unthinkable that a person of that calibre would run a successful business without thinking of succession planning.
All successful people in life, particularly people who create wealth think about the future; what will happen to their investments when they are no longer around. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to figure out this truth that one day you will cease to exist.
That is the difference between we Ghanaians and other civilizations; while other civilizations think of probabilities in the future, the Ghanaian think of today - we do not think ahead. Then we start blaming others. If the writer's dad was smart enough to groom one of his boys, which many other civilizations of the world do there will be no need for the writer to call others thieves.
All businesses have succession plans for ensuring the going concern of the company. And if the writer's dad did not understand the term 'going concern', then he was not the most intelligent person to build a business worth millions of dollars she claims. It is so unfortunate and a typical Ghanaian story.

Very insightful and heart breaking. Our thieving and corruption started the very day Gold Coast became Ghana. There was a rush to be and live like the white man we just broke ranks with. Since we were poor, the quickest and best way to achieve that status was to cheat any which way possible. Since then, Ghana has never turned it's back on the life of royalty and thievery. Our society has since honored and cherished only those who can steal from the state or other people's kitty to give hangouts to the less unlucky Mr Good Guys. Right now, if you wear a suit in Ghana, there is a 90 % chance that your tentacles fall into this group of invincible quicker uppers.
Ghanaians are hypocrites and dishonest. We are not developing as a country because we are all corrupt and pretenders. What a shame!
