This Founder's/Founders' day when was it instituted and why? Was that what Ghanaians wanted at the time? The name Jubilee house; was it political? The change from Jubilee to Flagstaff house when and why was that done? Was it political and was that what Ghanaians wanted at the time? Those who did that should have known better because what goes round comes around. The Prez. is right. Change has come and those changes must come too.

Nkrumah may not have been "a good manager of our economy after winning freedom", in your eyes, but he sure got you free education right up through the Ghana Medical School!
Now after 50 years since the overthrow of Nkrumah - and presumably in your view - good management of the economy, the younger generation has no such privileges. Many are the bright but poor students who now will never have tertiary education!
I put it to you, Sir, that with all his faults, genuine and propagandized, the economic foundation that Nkrumah laid down has not been EVER equaled in our country's history! This foundation had it been completed would have put Ghana at par with or even better than China, India and the "Asian Tigers".
With all the corruption and mismanagement that may have occurred during the Nkrumah era, this country has never had a better economy than that of the Nkrumah era! And the corruption and mismanagement that may have occurred under Nkrumah pales in comparison to what we have been experiencing under the kleptocracies that have misruled Ghana since.

Basic infrastructure in education, energy, factories and roads and townships to accommodate and educate a young work force can not be described as bad economic management.
I understand why you may may have the caveat to balance a well written article.Dealing with the npp as they are, they are always looking for reasons to reject reasonable presentations when they think the write up is not balanced.

Declaration is not proof. The professor is the first person to know that, as an academic, it is unacceptable to make an accusation or argument without any proof. He also knows, as a clinical psychiatrist, that to declare something to be true without evidence is to make a pathological lie!
Even the way Nkrumah founded the Ghana Medical School, where the professor was educated, shows Nkrumah's extraordinary skills as a remarkable go-getter and doer. The plan for the Medical School was proposed in 1919 by the British Colonialists and then shelved. Then Nkrumah tried to get American help in the late 50s to build it. Ist they agreed then in early 60's they withdrew simply because they didn't like Nkrumah's government. That's when the great Osagyefo went into action, recruiting the best Ghanaian doctors abroad, giving them resources and empowering them in every way. Talk about a bad manager! Mtsssseeew! Nkwasiasem ara kwa!

Read Meredith's "The state of Africa" or David Rooney's biography of Osagyefo. Both are kind but objective.

The writer is obviously an Nkrumaist but is objective enough to say Nkrumah had his faults. That is where we fail as Ghanaians. No one is perfect and if we do not analyse our failures we will not ever improve.
