In my opinion, there's no way in hell that an NPP Government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo will celebrate a purported birthday of President Kwame Nkrumah, Sept 21, 1909 as a national holiday in memory of him. Just as he will never celebrate June 4 or December 31st. Mark my word. If there's going to be a celebration in September at all, it will not be a Founder's day celebration and it should not be on Sept 21 but another day in September. It should be called a "National Heroes Day" or Founders Day. For one, September 21, 1909 could not have been Nkrumah's birthday. Nkrumah did not know his birthday. In Nkrumah's day, a child born at Nkroful to illiterate parents did not know their date of birth. They assumed a date of birth and I believe Nkrumah did exactly that. September 21, 1909 was a Tuesday. It was not a Saturday or a Friday. Nkrumah was known at various period of his life as Kofi and Kwame. If he was born in September 21, then it could been 1907(Saturday) or 1906(Friday). Indeed, looking at Nkrumah's 6th March 1957 picture, he looks 50 or 51 NOT 48. Nkrumah was "Abasriwa" on 6th March 1957.

Some elements in the CPP - a Fante dominated political movement - have always had at their dark heart a hatred for Asantes and Akyems - for reasons that lean back to the era of slavery and colonialism. So when Nkrumah came on the scene, they kind of found the pretence to settle scores with their arch political nemesis, Asante and Akyem by trying to water down everything Asante and Akyem and make Kwame Nkrumah a secular monarch. Kwesi Pratt is not alone, you could find the same traits in the political lingo and behaviour of Atta Mess and the Ahwoi brothers. History is purely how somebody captures and recounts his own antecedent experiences. So for Jews, Moses is number one, while Christians see Christ as number one, yet all of them amount to nothing significant for Muslims who see Mohammed as the greatest, yet all these people and faiths intersected and lived within the same geographic area.
These fools have the nerve to say Nana Addo exalted Danquah and diminished the role of Nkrumah, when in fact all that he did was to broaden the spectrum and put a spot on us as a nation and peoples whose collective history goes back thousands of years. Kwame Nkrumah never found us, neither did he create Ghana even as a political entity, the British did. It wasn't independence that created us as a people in the political space called Ghana today, we were self-governing political enclaves, which the British put together under one flag.
Independence just marked the beginning of us taking collective decisions for ourselves without recourse through Westminster Abbey. It doesn't mean we were not and did not see ourselves as closely related people with certain baselines and understandings that tied us all to the Union Jack which became Ghana flag on the midnight of March 5, 1957. Miseducated fools and mischiefs like Pratt want us to continue the deception because it favours their political narratives. When was it that they even mounted any platform and gave some credence and credits to Danquah and others, for them to come and tell us, Nana should have skewed and heaped all the praises on Nkrumah. March 6, 1957 was Ghana's birthday, not Nkrumah's. And it wasn't Kwame Nkrumah who gave birth to Ghana. The fact that he did not even name the new born nation back then should open your eyes. Before Nkrumah was, Gold Coast/Ghana was. We have always been and will forever continue to be, that is why the party he formed, the CPP has died, but we as a nation are still here, and to wit the party on whose back he piggybacked on, the UGCC/NPP is still here.
What irks me the most about Nkrumacrats is their penchant for narrating the whole independence movement like Ghanaians did not know exactly what they wanted and how to go about it until Mr. Know-it-all Kwaku Ananse Kwame Nkrumah arrived at the Gold Coast. This politics of exclusion and Nkrumah supremacy led to his dawnfall.
For these dusty feet gumsuckers our sense of self, history, and nationalism only crystalized with the coming of Nkrumah. All others before him were just harvesting the wind and beating about the bush. Yet when we pause, take stock and reflect over our total collective history, like president Akufo Addo rightly pointed out, we have always had this innate feelings and sense of who we are, from whence we have come and our undying desire for freedom and justice going back thousands of years - from ancient Ghana to date, with the exception of the Ga and Ewe who probably came from some where east of the Gulf of Guinea probably starting from the Congo basin through Nigeria to their present abode.
A testament to how Kwame Nkrumah and all that he stood for was just a blip in our thousand-year history is the sorry state of the party he formed today - the CPP which can hardly command even 1% of the popular votes in any recent elections compared to the true blood UGCC in its current form as NPP.
Kwame Nkrumah did great things, but to say he is the sole founder of modern Ghana, you would have to be a well-intentioned fool to come to that conclusion when the march towards independence was already in full swing before he arrived on the scene from abroad. Akufo Addo gave an abridged version of our 1000years history and we applaud him for it, setting the records straight. Ghana did not start from the time Kwame Nkrumah arrived on the scene till independence. Ignorant buffoons should not be allowed to foist their bad education on the rest. Kwame Nkrumah just finished a relay race. He didn't start the race.

What do you mean by the "the places where the bomb throwers come from" ? You only have to pay someone and arm him with the chemicals to do the job, so what is your point ? The geographic location of the bomb throwers has nothing to do with party affiliation (there were voltarians who were of UP decent etc).
And don't in anyway confuse the UGCC with the NPP (Danquah-busia-dombo). Your statement seek to suggest that somehow the UGCC metamorphosed into NPP (damn wrong!).
Don't forget that the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition wanted to form their own country under a different name (since they vehemently rejected the name ghana and the unitary system of Nkrumah). So if the UGCC who sort to gain independence from the brits (within the shortest possible time) under a unitary arrangement comprising all the provinces of the gold coast, how would one then reason that the UGCC is the same or has the same ideology as the Danqua-busia-dombo tradition ? And if the root of the UGCC (with the aspiration of gaining independence for all the provinces) was the then western province (central and western region) how come the Danquah-busia-dombo claim their continuity from the UGCC when they (danqua busia tradition) only wanted pseudo-independence for only the then ashanti province, some part of the eastern province, and the northern provinces excluding the new british togoland, the ga area of the eastern province (currently greater accra) etc.
If you learn your history well you would know that, it was Paa Grant (an Nzema) who founded the UGCC with the same aspiration from the Aborigines right protection society, and not the so called J.B Danquah as the NPP claims (even though the contribution of JB cannot be underestimated).
The amazing thing is that paa grant supported Nkrumah throughout his course because of the diabolical intention of Danqua-busia (no wonder Nana akufor addo also downplayed the role played by Paa grant the sole proprietor of ghanaian politics).
Did you also know that Dr. Busia wrote to the Queen not to give ghana independence because "...the queen has not finish experimenting with the people of gold coast". If you really knew those people that akufo addo is fond of, you would have cursed him (nana). In actual fact, Dr. Busia meant that we're sub-humans like monkeys that should be constantly be humiliated by the white. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT...
