If you come to think of it, it is unheard of for judicial power to be vested in a woman in any democracy, the Chief Justice. Also the past two AGs and Minister of Justice of Ghana have been women - the current Gloria Akuffo and immediate past Marrietta Drew Oppong. And there is a slew of women in ministerial portfolios, not to mention Council of State and other government agencies. This begs the question; what do women want? A woman is presently in the most sensitive position in Ghana's Electoral Commission.
But the irony of it all is despite women occupying the positions of CJ and AG/Minister of Justice, the law has never been on the side of women. There have been instances of violence against women, which leads to death and the concomitant rape prevalence in our society. You would think women in high echelon of our legal system, the CJ, and AG/Minister of Justice would clamp down vehemently on such dastardly act and stem the prevalence of violence against women. Why is KKD walking free after allegedly raping the 19 years old virgin? Women who seek higher position must use the position to help their own because the network of guys in higher positions protect their own.
