Any Ghanaian who is foolish to believe we are going to get anywhere with NDC and NPP proposals deserve the disappointments of the past and those yet to come.
We do not suffer in silence, humiliation and live in filth in Ghana because of uneducated citizen majority; we do because of scarcity of jobs and wages that are above the globally accepted poverty line. The NPP Nana Akufo-Addo solution is to have free education which tells me about a rather deep rooted ignorance of Ghana's educated and political elite class. Do we not currently have unemployed and underemployed secondary and post secondary educated Ghanaians? Do we not have university graduates who are unemployed? Do the university graduates who finish fulfilling their National Service mandates get jobs after their service? Do we have companies in Ghana that are recruiting qualified workers from outside Ghana to fill job vacancies? What we need is not simple-minded free education but meaningful education that help high school, college and university graduates in Ghana with enough knowledge, confidence and applicable know how create jobs either using Ghana's abundant mineral and natural resources and or some of the end products available on the world markets. It is only when there are high paying job vacancies and or job vacancies with wages and salaries that support a family of 3 or more that the NPP and NDC can talk about free education to help boost dwindling educated work force numbers.
Wages are at gutter level in Ghana because for every single job opening there are 200 qualified applicants; you do not need to be a rocket scientist to know Ghana is an employer market. Employers get to pick and or pay what ever amount they want, potential employees do have to take the crappy wages they offer or stay unemployed. So how's excess educated citizens in Ghana through the so-called free education going to help create jobs or boost income? We can have all the talk that goes around in Ghana until the chickens come home but it will not amount to a hill of beans. We have been ignorant about education since time and continue today. Why are university lecturers, church elders and every imaginable Ghanaian running to politics to get rich and yet we continue to live in filth, are poor and ignorant if all those educated folks had jobs that paid them decent wages/salaries to afford the things they now steal from government to buy?
