Kofi Ata, I think it is a bit too late to be making this analysis. It's seven weeks since the elections and everything that can be said has already been said. I don't think you've added anything new. You tried to find a novel angle by your four records thing but even these have already been pointed out by various commentators at different times - even on ghanaweb.
Even so, your new Akufo-Addo image as vital is not very convincing. Yes, Akufo-Addo may have humbled himself before the elections but it is difficult to say people voted for him on account of that. How many people can you imagine telling themselves they would now vote for Akufo-Addo because he had become humble?
Ghanaians genuinely wanted a change and Mahama didn't do well enough to convince them against that. The corruption scandals took a lot of the public attention of the electorate. In so doing, they followed a trend set up in the Fourth Republic: 8 years for every ruling party. Had Mahama won, that trend would have been broken.
Yes, the NPP mounted a good campaign by highlighting on Mahama's faults and promising heaven to Ghanaians. I don't think Ghanaians were so enamoured of Akufo-Addo the man or pitied him for trying so long. Those who voted for him in his two failed attempts would always do so, anyway. Under the same circumstances, another NPP candidate, perhaps more likable than Akufo-Addo, could have equally won it for NPP probably even with a larger margin.
Ghanaians really voted for a change of government, not for a change of president. And Mahama lost it. No other party was as big as NDC so it had to be NPP.

Policing of ballots at the polling stations. The usual Kwake Ananse tricks of the STEALERS did not work. Multiple voting, as happened in 2012, where Mahatma orderred for voting to be held for two days was prevented. The NDC trained agents who usually carry out vote stuffing were afraid to do so because of vigilante groups presence at the polling station. We would have killed anyone caught in the act. Finally finally, cross border Togolese Trokosi votes were prevented. Thanks to Amewu, the current Minister for Trokosiland, and his Invisible Forces who ambushed them. The evil hands of the EC too were tied because the pink sheets were used to declare the final results. No room was given to numerical acrobatics, the 27 turned 270 was killed on arrival( courtesy our teachers who were allow to act as presiding officers as against 2012 where Afari Gyan foolishly banned all teachers from the voting exercise.).

Thanks Yaw, read the lips of Kofi Ata(forgetting to add Cambridge to his name?) "The only reason why I avoided making a definite prediction was that I was unsure to what extent incumbency advantage would play in the final outcome, especially when no incumbent had lost the presidency to the challenger under the fourth republic or in Ghana." It was extremely evident but you refused to acknowledge defeat due to your roots in Ghana politics. You never commented on the numerous scandals that surfaced because you were in their fold. This is a face saving write up.

Yaw, I have no regret about my articles on Nana Akufo-Addo prior to December 7, 2016 because they were legitimate issues of public interest.
I recollect the two articles on his health with the first one suggesting that he should sue the publishers if the story was not true. What is wrong with that? The second was to question whether his sudden visits abroad was to seek medical care and if so whether Ghanaians have a right to know about the health problems of a potential future president. Again what is wrong with that. Were we not witnesses to how a former president died in office suddenly when Ghanaians were deceived that he was healthy?
Of course, I was surprised that despite the rumours about his health, he travelled across the length and breath of Ghana to campaign. I was not surprise he won because in my last article I concluded that any of the two leading candidates could win though the odds were in his favour.

Your wrong perorations on Akufo-Addo were therefore just in pattern with your regularly wrong opinions.
There is something in NDC/CPP members that does not enable them to think right or write right.

Dr SAS, I have never been a member of any political party in my life (in Ghana or the UK). I was not in Ghana when the NDC was formed. The fact that I worked with PNDC does not automatically make me an NDC member. They themselves do not consider me as pro NDC and in fact, some of my former colleagues who are also leading members of NDC do not relate to me because they see me as anti-NDC, through my articles and comments on Ghanaweb. I think if both NDC and NPP consider me as anti NDC/NPP, that is an indication that I am doing something right and will continue to be objective, irrespective of whether it's NDC or NPP government.
My post election predictions were more accurate than most. I concluded that any of the two leading candidates could win though the odds were in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo/NPP. Is that what you call wrong? Of course, I wished I had made a definite prediction that Nana Akufo-Addo will win because most of the issues that affected voting decisions were against Mahama and in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo but because of the potential electoral in African by incumbents, I was cautious. That was the right approach because of what happened in the US and the Brexit votes.
I have no regret whatsoever on all my articles and Nana Akufo-Addo or any other subject posted on Ghanaweb since 2010.

Kofi, you are part of the carball that attempted to vilify Nana all these years. Did you not write that Nana's refusal do debate Mahama was because of the latter's fading memory or his inability to carry his trend of thought for a period of time. When I attacked you this, your response was that your observation was based on remors. You even justified this foolishness by saying that the Watergate scandal started with a remor. Please don't come here with these unfounded and shallow analysis again. You have never been objective so far as Nana is concerned. . Ghanaians certainly never fell for your propaganda. Have a good evening.

Kwadwo, you can call me whatever names you like but I know that I am not part of any cabal. I did not vilify Nana Akufo-Addo. Rather I confirmed and put a stop to rumours on whether he went to Oxford or not. That was of public interest and the UK Information Commissioner agreed with me when Oxford University refused to answer some of my questions in a freedom of information request and ordered the university to respond.
Why did he fail to take part in the debate and that also was a legitimate question to ask as well as make reference to rumours of alleged memory loss. What is wrong with that?
The proble with some of you is that, it's ok if it's on the other side but bad if it's on your side. Look at how Mahama accepted defeat, attended the inauguration, shook hands with and embraced Nana Akufo-Addo? Have you asked yourself why didn't Nana Akufo-Addo do the same in 2009 or 2012? Of course, in 2012 he was contesting the results so it would have been difficult for him to do as Mahama did but what about 2009? Some NPP supporters even tried to stop president Kufuor from attending Mahama's inauguration and NPP MPs boycotted it.
Do not call me names because just you disagree with my views. I do not write articles to suit anyone but to share my views and opinions. I also do not expect everyone to agree with me. I do not regret whatever I have written and posted on Ghanaweb and I can defend them at any place and at anytime. You have the right to disagree with me but do not call me names.
