You referenced improved seeds. What seeds was he talking about? Was he the one who once commented on GMO's?
Do you believe in the ICT incorporation he spoke about? What is the background of the overwhelming majority of our farmers?
Stemic greetings.

Damn if you do and damn if you don't.the US should not be referenced in your article at all. The US has a population of 350 million and 5 of that is large compared to Ghana's population. Plus they've been doing mechanized farming for ages. Encouraging farming will help ease congestion in our cities

I agree with u that Ghana doesn't need more people in farming because people need jobs. My reason is that farming requires attributes such as courage, determination and perseverance which are not possessed by all. Efforts could be wasted if Ghana spends valuable resources on people to go into farming because they need jobs. Let's not forget about the Youth in Agriculture programme. It suffered from that. I also disagree with u that we need only 5% of our population in farming. US, the example u cited, has a different land tenure, credit and subsidy program from those of Ghana. Again, some of the major crops we produce and the nature of some of our agricultural lands will make large scale farming difficult and unbearable for our farmers because of the extremely little support they get.

@Kwadwo it seems u didn't understand the article. The size of the population doesn't matter. What matters is the proportion of the population engaged in agriculture. If u are aiming at mechanized agriculture, u don't need 50% of ur population there. Which country has developed by having more than 50% of the population in agriculture? Transformation of an economy is but on serious education of the population. How can a country develop with more than 60% of the population with no education? In the 21st century, science and technology are the engine of development not agriculture. Maybe u want to be in agric. Good luck
