But Yaw, can you also ever ever ever write an article to ghanaweb without quoting some authority or the other?
I am not accusing you of plagiarism because you do always attribute your sources (which is perhaps your joy in doing it to show you know of these authorities) but excessive quotations, references and attributions, in the end, have one effect of plagiarism: they show that you are not able to say or express your ideas yourself but must attach those ideas to someone else.
Nana Yaw, articles to ghanaweb are BASICALLY journalistic pieces, not term papers or papers for your seminar group. There is no need for you to always show us that you're preparing a dissertation on psycho-dynamic theories.
Try to cut out the EXCESSIVE references and quotations. Use such only sparingly.

So what is the point of your article? After all the analysis and references you draw such a conclusion? And you are a student seeking academic qualification soon? Why oh why?

IF YOU ARE CLAIMING THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH WHAT HAPPENED AT THE INAUGURATION ON 7 DEC. WHY DID THE PRESS SECRETARY APOLOGIZE TO GHANAIANS?
WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO ADMIT THE TRUTH?

Point to us where the writer is wrong? What is stupid about the article? All are saying plagiarism so the writer must agree? Grow up.

Your attempt at justifying this pitiful ordeal that embarrasses not only the new President but also the whole nation of Ghana is dipping the issue into deeper mud.
Everyone who has studied beyond High-School in Ghana and Elementary School in most advance countries ought to know what plagiarism is.
Surely, there are certain reproductions of others' works that might be excused from the plagiarism taint. But this situation involving Akufo-Addo is not one of those.
I couldn't feel more embarrassed, even when I was all by myself, driving along the highway to hear this plagiarism incident being discussed on an American NPR radio station.
The US International Reporter narrating the story from Ghana, and the presenter of the program both know what plagiarism is and they didn't make any exception to that issue, or didn't find it to be wrongly characterized as such, and so shared in the empathy for Ghanaians feeling the embarrassment that emanated off the case.
We should begin to boldly and honestly admit our errors. Surely, plagiarism occurs all around us. Sometimes, it may not be purposefully intended but rise out of sheer laziness to edit properly.
Even the out-going USA VP, Joe Biden, was once charged with similar fault, and was forced by it to drop out of 1988 US Presidential race. But he came out to personally apologize for it, even as he claimed it wasn't malevolent.
Well, to Joe Biden, it wasn't malevolent. But to many it was inexcusable and they hanged around his neck for a long time.
So, don't let us make flimsy excuses to try and exonerate the culprit in this case. The best Akufo-Addo could do about the shameful error is apologize and promise to be more careful in using other people's materials. His Speechwriter was to be blamed directly for that. But it is Akufo-Addo who bears the brunt of the embarrassment. The buck stops at his feet!
We all know that Akufo-Addo is well read and very eloquent and could have written his own original and powerful message. But he chose to let someone else do it for him as in many advanced nations. Well, if we want to have things done right, we ought to pay more attention to ensure its quality, even if we have to designate another to do it.
I hope this issue does not set the pace for any trend of aloofness by Akufo-Addo in governing the Nation. He must be on top of issues and review everything he assigns to others to do.
He must immediately drop that Speechwriter who caused him and Ghana this much embarrassment.
And to all those who want us to consider this as some puny, inconsequential mistake that needs be glossed over, I would like to throw a caution that Ghana must not settle for mediocrity. It is that attitude of ours that has entrenched almost incorrigible corruption in our System.
It is time we began calling a spade a spade, and not stick because it is in the hands of someone we favor.
Long Live Ghana!!!

It indeed cannot qualify as plagiarism and moreso, if ex-president G.W. Bush was not accused of plagiarism in 2001 even in America where that is a law, then we can equally agree and per the America's own standard show that he did not plagiarized. It therefore means that those who are accusing the president of plagiarism are either not informed of law on plagiarism or are doing so out of mischief!
