I can guarantee Nana Addo a one term Presidency if he grants that outrageous request of the former President. This is a property meant for Ghana's Vice Presidents. Alhaji Aliu Mahama of blessed memory was the first to occupy the property and did not request to have it as a retirement home. Has he done done where will JDM be? Granting this request will set a very bad precedent and one day a very greedy President will ask the Flagstaff house as a retirement home and what will we do? The man can go to hell with his request. Majority of us Ghanaians are saying no and the President better listen to the silent majority or risk his presidency in 2020. This is the President who at the dying days of his presidency was appointing officers to statutory bodies claiming his presidency was only to expire on the midnight of 6th January 2016 and yet on ceasing to be President want to call the shots. Our new President have the goodwill of the people but he dare not take us for granted. The road to 2020 has began and we shall surely remember this gesture. I, like most others fought from the fringes to help bring this party to power and in 2020, we shall know what to do. Our stand is give the President what he deserve as has been prescribed but certainly not this property. We are watching with eagles eyes

He said this when the USA representative who attended Nana Addo's inaugural ceremony reported to him that Ghanaians are complaining that the speech delivered by the new president is full of ideas presented by some past leaders. With the request in the public domain, I'm not surprised a heated debate has ensued making it difficult for a rational decision to be made as opposed to a popular decision. That's why even in established demOcracies, certain information is kept from the public.
Secondly I blame the NPP for spreading so much falsehood, most of which was very irresponsible, about the NDC and brainwashed their supporters into accepting them that the NPP will now find it difficult to make rational decisions without disappointing their base.Lawlessness is one result of this.I'm therefore not surprised their supporters have unlawfully occupied the facilities of certain strategic state companies demanding to be employed in them and conveniently forgetting that those companies belong to ALL Ghanaians! In the course of these unlawful activities, I'm reliably informed that some items have been destroyed which the state has to spend money it doesn't have to replace.What's the sense in this? And what if other Ghanaians decide to strike back?
It is this dangerous lawlessness that the NPP leadership should quickly address instead of this unnecessary cacophony about Mahama's retirement residence which can still be resolved quietly despite the irresponsible leakage by a person who has proved unfit to be part of the Transition Team.

I wrote on this forum on many occasions of my doubt of such thinking. My reason was that it was this same Nana Akufo Addo's term in office as the country's Foreign Minister when some dozens of Ghanaians were slaughtered in the Gambia with the excuse that they were in the Gambia to overthrow the Jameh's government. Compensations were paid by the Gambian regime to Kufour's government for the relatives of those killed with Nana Akufo Addo as the leading government official who was in charged of the negotiations but not all the relatives received the right share. Up till date no government official statement has ever come from Nana's office on how these funds were distributed to the relatives of the murdered people. This show how Kufour's government of which Nana was a leading player was corrupt. Today ex President has finished his term in office and instead of him moving from his official residence for the the new Vice President, Nana Akufo Addo has agreed to give the house to Mr Mahama for FREE. Why should Ghanaians sit idly for these greedy politicians rob State of its properties? President Akufo Addo should refuse this request of Ex President Mahama for this is another form of CORRUPTION. Ghanaians did not reject corrupt Mr.Mahama to allow another do-nothing to take his place.The masses should take to the streets to protest against such greedy offer.
