To begin with, it is very difficult for the NDC to genuinely win election in Ghana. I have never seen one since the inception of the 4th Republic.
Bature and his minions are being economical with truth. Deception, lies, propaganda, intimidation, snatching of ballot boxes, and manipulation of figures, inter alia, has been the strength and operation tool of the NDC in all our elections since 1992.
Lack of vigilance at the pooling stations also have contributed to the electoral losses of the NPP since 1992. Our hands were tied up when ballots papers, which are exclusive property of the EC, were found in refuse dumps and in the cars of some DCEs after the '92 and '96 generals elections. Our hands were tied when Togolose-Trokosis, Benin-Atakpamis, and Burkina-Wangaras could be freely bused by the soon to depose loot and criminals hanging around the corridors of power, to vote in Ghana.
Bature knows all these sacred facts but he is here assigning stupid reasons why the NDC lost, forgotten that it was rather the actions of the vigilante groups, the gallant foot soldiers of the NPP who were this time round wide awake, and checkmated the Togolese-Kotokolis who used to cross our borders to dance " gumbe" in Ghana during our elections.
In fact this Bature guy, whom sources available to our desk, point out that he is a Kotokoli, played a major role in the lost of NPP in 2008 with his outright lies and deception when he was a news anchor at Radio-Rwanda, as some Ghanaians have nicknamed Radio Gold. Things that this opportunistic Bature said in those days are still fresh in our minds.
The Kwesi Botcwey lead 13-member committee is as useless as used toilet paper since nothing good will come out of it, except to cover their their shame in the emotionally humiliating crushing-defeat at the hands of true Ghanaians. They should stop wasting our ears and time. Bull's eye!

NDC lost the elections because they were unable to rig the elections as usual. All the tricks they had been using since 1992 to steal the verdicts of Ghanaians have now been exposed and blocked. Until they repent and mend their ways; choosing full democracy over electoral manipulations and reliance on rigging elections to rule Ghanaians, they will languish in the opposition for 40 years or more.

The NDC defeat which can be described as a major unprecedented shellacking can be attributed to 6 major factors.
1. the Candidate
2. the politics
3. the economics
4. the development factor
5. the social and
6. the opposition.
John Dramani Mahama was and is by far the worst President, and the most unelectable incumbent presidential candidate in over 50 years. Some would dispute this basic fact. However the trend analysis shows he was just not electable. Perhaps his outright fear of an internal contest was ample testimony of how pervasive and entrenched this fear was. In the end what he feared the most a clean, credible, transparent contest and process which eluded members in the NDC party who were poised to take the mantle of leadership from him in the NDC party, was what saw him biting the dust on the national stage, where such shenanigans and machinations was effectively, inoperative and lacked any locus.
2. The politics of the NDC was terrible. Right from the Presidency through to the legislative branch and to the grassroots, and every aspect of the gov't machinery, the NDC politics was nauseatingly offensive. Even after Mahama has been firmly trounced and whipped like never before, Ghana is watching in absolute horror and indignation the disgusting politics of the Mahama NDC gov't. NDC will pay a price for that in 2020 and beyond, just needed to point that out. Also there were, and are issues in the NDC party which they sought to deflect and project onto the NPP, which required that, they tackled head-on but failed to do. In the end it came to bite them in their behind where it hurt the most. It has still not been resolved. That is what their Founder referred to as NDC and Mahama were living in a fool's paradise, to paraphrase him, if they thought the disloyal members in the leadership of the NPP and the problems arising thereof was going to affect the base and focus of the NPP party.
3. The economics of the Mahama NDC administration was by far the worst ever under the Constitution of this 4th Republic considering the resources that accrued to this gov't. Indeed, with economic growth projected to be the lowest in over two decades and likely to tank further, there was no way the ship was going to stay afloat. The NDC party was going down. Ghana has experienced the worst economic performance under John Mahama and it was so bad, Mahama had to run to the IMF for technical expertise an euphemism for competence, amongst other things. In other jurisdictions, such a gov't would have resigned and called for fresh elections on the back of such an catastrophic and disastrous management of the economy.
4.There was a huge disconnect between what the NDC felt was their development agenda and the relevant inter-linkages between their development programs and policies vis-à-vis the citizenry, and that was a total fail as well. Example was what Paa Kwesi Nduom referred to when he was talking about the flyover at circle the so-called Circle Dubai and yam producing areas in the country. Indeed, the correlation coefficient between development and corruption was the most atrocious and a recurring disaster of humongous proportions. It left in it's wake rising unemployment, collapsed businesses, an intractable debt overhang and the list goes on and on.
5.On the social front, the arrogance of power, gross and crass brazen impunity and lack of tact, finesse and gross egregious disrespect for the citizenry, and now we are being told it was also internalized in their own NDC party, fueled a spectacular and continuing disengagement between the electorate and the NDC party, and doomed them into opposition long before the first ballot was cast. Eg was the case of Sanja Nanja, Kojo Bonsu, Montie 3 etc, etc. It is such a long list this factor alone could careen Mahama and the NDC off the rails two times over.
6. Finally, contrary to the perception the NDC party sought to build and portray about the NPP as a disunited entity, this was a very united, focused and very resolute opposition that meant serious business, and was totally committed to wrestling power from the NDC. Nothing was going to move or sway that ship. It was a very robust opposition very much in tune with itself and the task that needed to be executed and it was executed to perfection. The NPP run one of the most engaged campaigns ever, from the ground up which resonated completely with the electorate and the end result is, they won.
So the point could be made that the defeat of the NDC party which was long predicted, was self-inflicted, but it was against a very focused opposition, which was determined to wrestle power in absolute terms from the NDC party. There was no stopping that hurricane, change was imminent and it has touched down ferociously.
Mahama has lost and he is out.
Suffice to say, this is good riddance to very, very bad rubbish.
Last but not the least was an Electoral Commission that was not going to be allowed to play hanky panky with it's mandate, and force a candidate of the EC's choosing as opposed to the choice of the electorate on the masses. The EC was going to be a neutral arbiter in the strictest sense of the word in the processes and procedures leading to the selection of the candidate whom Ghanaians had absolute confidence to lead this country, and the will of the masses prevailed.
Broadly, these were the issues that sent Mahama and the NDC party out like the force of a hurricane.

"Why Nana Addo won't be 3rd time lucky
Contrary to the assertion by some chiefs, mostly of the New Patriotic Party stock that, twice failed flag bearer of the biggest opposition party would be third time lucky in the upcoming November polls, facts on the ground show otherwise.
Available narratives, statistics and uncontestable evidence will show that Nana Akufo-Addo's dream of ascending the highest office of the land will continue to be a mirage after November 2016 elections.
The former Foreign Affairs Minister and former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South in the Eastern region, from all investigation and findings on the grounds, will not only lose this year's election but will suffer his worst political humiliation after the November polls, The aL-hAJJ can confirm.
The political climate in Ghana today and Akufo-Addo's own conduct, behaviour and approach towards his ambition will show that it's utterly at variance with the personalities of late Prof Mills, Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, General Buhari of Nigeria and even former President Kufuor, among others who were 3rd time lucky.
While the aforementioned individuals, for example, added 'something' new to their various tickets in their quest to become presidents, same cannot be said of Nana Addo.
Unlike Nana Akufo-Addo, who has maintained his belligerent, uncompromising, divisive and intimidating character even after the two excruciating defeats, Mills, Gen Buhari, Wade, Kufuor and others were very humble, submissive and identified with people regardless of their status, ethnic and political persuasion.
Nana Addo also, in all his three attempts at the presidency has maintained Dr Bawumia as his running mate thus, not adding ‘anything’ new to the ticket.
In the case of the late tax professor, after losing the 2000 elections to Mr Kufuor with Martin Alamisi Amidu as his running mate, he replaced him with Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni for the 2004 elections but again lost.
On his third attempt at the presidency in the 2008 elections, he nominated then MP for Bole-Bamboi, John Dramani Mahama as running mate and succeeded in defeating NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Ironically, while Nana Akufo-Addo and his ilk have made countless references to “third-time lucky” candidates, what they never told us is that none of them went into each election with same running mates as he (Akufo-Addo) has maintained Dr Bawumia since 2008.
What is also missing in Nana Akufo-Addo third-time bid is that the “third-time lucky’ flag bearers in their various attempts to secure the highest office of their respective lands saw their popularity soaring unlike Ghana's Akufo-Addo whose fortunes since 2008 continue to dwindle.
Abdoulaye Wade was President of Senegal from 2000 to 2012. He was also the Secretary-General of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) and has led the party since it was founded in 1974. A long-time opposition leader, he ran for President four times, beginning in 1978, before he was elected in 2000. He won re-election in 2007 with a majority in the first round, but in 2012 he was defeated in a controversial bid for a third term.
Wade first ran for President in February 1978 against Senghor, taking 17.38% of the vote. Subsequently, he ran in the presidential elections of 1983 and 1988, taking second place each time, behind Senghor's successor Abdou Diouf.
Abdoulaye Wade in the first round of the 2000 presidential election, held on February 27, again took second place, receiving 31% of the vote, and consequently, a second round was held on March 19. Wade won this round with 58.49% of the vote, having received the support of candidates from the first round, including third place candidate Moustapha Niasse.
On his part, Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari unsuccessfully ran for the office of President in the 2003, 2007 and 2011. In December 2014, he emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the March 2015 general elections.
General Buhari won the election, defeating incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan. This marked the first time in the history of Nigeria that an incumbent president lost to an opposition candidate in a general election. He was sworn in on 29 May 2015.
In the 2003 elections in Nigeria, Buhari, then as the candidate of the All Nigeria People's Party was defeated by the People's Democratic Party nominee, President Olusegun Obasanjo, by a margin of more than 11 million votes.
In the 2011 presidential elections, Buhari left the ANPP for the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a party that he had helped to found. He became the CPC Presidential candidate for the 16 April 2011 general election, running against incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and Ibrahim Shekarau of ANPP among others.
The elections were marred by widespread sectarian violence, which claimed the lives of 800 people across the country, Buhari’s won 12,214,853 votes, coming in second to the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP, who polled 22,495,187 votes and was declared the winner.
In the run up to the 2015 Presidential elections, the campaign team of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan asked for the disqualification of General Buhari from the race, claiming that he is in breach of the Constitution. According to the fundamental document, in order to qualify for election to the office of the President, an individual must be “educated up to at least School certificate level or its equivalent”. Buhari has failed to submit any such evidence, claiming that he lost the original copies of his diplomas when his house was raided following his overthrow from power in 1985
Buhari contested the 2015 Presidential election as candidate of the All Progressives Congress party. His platform was built around his image as a staunch anti-corruption fighter and his incorruptible and honest reputation.
In February 2015, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and other leading lights quit the ruling PDP party and threw their support behind the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket.
On 31 March, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan called Buhari to offer his concession and congratulations for his election as president. Buhari was sworn in on 29 May 2015 in a ceremony attended by at least 23 Heads of State and Government.
Mr John Kufuor, who has been one of the reference point of Nana Akufo-Addo and his men, changed running mates two times before winning the presidency. In the 1996 elections, candidate Kufuor nominated Mr Kow Nkensen Arkaah, then sitting vice president who had fallen out with his boss, Mr Rawlings, as running mate, but lost.
Keen on adding value to his ambition to become president on his second attempt, Mr Kufuor nominated Tamale –based engineer, the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama after winning the party’s flag bearer primaries ahead of the 2000 elections and this time round succeeded in beating the late Mills.
While former President Kufuor made marginal incursions into NDC strongholds during his days in opposition and eventually succeeding in snatching Greater Accra, Central, Western, Brong Ahafo and Eastern regions from the NDC, Nana Akufo-Addo has rather taken the NPP backwards, leaving it with only two regions, Ashanti and Eastern.
After losing to Mr Kufuor and taking his party into opposition, the late Mills marshalled forces to win the regions he lost to the NPP and eventually succeeding in winning eight out of the 10 regions in the 2008 elections to defeat Nana Akufo-Addo. Before that, he had won some of the regions he lost to Mr Kufuor in 2000 elections.
An important ingredient that enabled the aforesaid people to achieve their ambitions was their ability to attract the various opposition elements to their side which made it possible for them to form alliances to dislodge incumbents in their various countries.
Additionally, the aforementioned individuals had their party ‘intact’ without divisions and rancor at the time they were gunning for the position of presidents in their respective countries and, also put out convincing and compelling alternative policies to sway voters to their sides.
In contrast, the three-time NPP flag bearer, in his quest to become absolute ruler has not only alienated the opposition parties in Ghana, but also dissipated away critical members of his party including former President Kufuor, Kwadwo Mpiani, Dr Richard Anane, Mr Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong and Dr Nyaho Tamakloe among others who were also, brains behind the party’s victory in the 2000 elections.
As if the Gods has destined Nana Akufo-Addo to be “the president that never was”, the unprecedented performance of the John Mahama administration, the cohesion and united front prevailing in the NDC will be conspired to consign Mr Akufo-Addo to political dustbin come November 2016.
Aside the internal bickering in the NPP, which is threatening its survival before and after the upcoming polls, the NPP party is still struggling to put together a convincing campaign message to counter President Mahama and his NDC’s #changing lives, #transforming lives message.
In the absence of a campaign message, the NPP has resorted to making unfounded and spurious corruption allegations against President Mahama and his appointees a strategy many say would not yield them the desired result of coming back to power."

How convenient! If the NDC had won, you would have said it was because of your warnings and by losing, you are stating it's because they failed to heed to your warnings. And by the way, it is wrong to compare Dr. Hilla Limann's one term presidency with Mr. John Mahama's one term. Limann never had the privelege of going to the people to seek a second term, but Mahama did! That makes a huge difference as against your forced connection or comparison of the two presidents.

I'll start with comparing the results of 2012 to 2016 presidential élections.
In 2012 the total number of registered voters was 14,158,890 where 11,246,982 went to cast their votes, representing 79.43%.
You can see the apathy here in 2016 where the number of registered voters increased to 15,712,499.This gives you 1,553,609 new registered voters in 2016 general élections.
On the contrary,only 10,781,917 voted representing 68.62%.
Simple maths will tell you that the number of registered voters who decided not to vote at all was very huge.
15,712,499-10,781,917 = 4,930,582 in 2016 general élections.
The difference in 2012 results is clear.
14,158,890-11,246,982=2,911,908.
Nana Addo made a progress from 5,248,899 votes in 2012 to 5,716,026 in 2016,difference of 0,467,127 votes.
On the contrary,Prez Mahama lost 0,861,485 votes from his 5,574,761 in 2012 to 4,713,277 votes.
Now we must look at the cause of the apathy that favoured Nana Addo and NPP.
I'll put economic hardship, dumso, late payment of workers and service providers to serious scandals against President Mahama himself.I remember Kwesi Pratt once warning the NDC that infrastructure alone doesn't win élections.
On a more serious note,Nana Addo launched a very effective campaign strategy by responding to the needs of the people he met. That's why he made many needless promises but NDC couldn't neutralise his strategy this time. They looked on unconcerned and allowed Nana Addo to have his way unlike 2008 and 2012 where he had only free shs campaign message that couldn't fly.Ghanaians prefer milk and honey to infrastructure.NDC must learn from what Kwame Nkrumah said in exile after he was ousted from power.Nkrumah said had he known that Ghanaians prefer milk to development,he could have let milk flow for us.Good luck next time.

This is the man who was very categorical on adom tv morning show that Kuffour won six regions in GH but Nana Addo's unpopularity has reduced it to One nd half region i.e Ashanti nd Eastern so there is no way Npp can win the 2016 election.I'm shocked to my bone marrow to read from this editor of a rented press claiming he saw the defeat ahead of time.Ur days of cooking fake news about Nana Addo for goodies from ur pay master is over and ur paper will not even worth a toilet paper .

NDC lost the elections because Ghanaians were fed up after eight years in office. The economic conditions also contributed to the loss.

If the NDC requires a committee to unearth reasons for losing the election, then they (the executives) have confirmed the unhealthy views I've held about them all along.
What made you think you could convince Ghanaians to keep you in government? The so called infrastructure projects were executed with borrowed money, with Ghana as collateral; the economy was moribund at best; corruption reached unprecedented levels, not to mention Woyome, tribal politics, nepotism etc. etc. Can a party win an election with these going ons?
Please don't waste your time attending silly meetings!

There were massive deals, corruption and unprecedented arrogance emanting from these guys who were supposed to be campaigning but instead focussed on grabbing grabbing dealing and dealing...You can not do that in governance today in this era of enlightenement.
They did not prosecute any tangible strategy but relied on commissioning of projects...People are struggling to put food on the table and you talking about projects?
These guys were so incompetent to the core and bereft of cogent analysis of issues that their strategists failed to match equal measure of working on the purchasing power of Ghanaians. In otherwords, the economy was a top priority. Unemployment was. They ignorantly and naively focussed too much on infrasteucture....See my article on ' postmortem of a dead goat' on Ghanweb.

Professor Botwe should not look beyond this aL-hAjj news paper and it's editor. Poor language and arrogance was this editor's cola. Every word of his was a deduction to NDC votes yet these stupid fools were clapping for them. Probe him too and bring him to his senses. That paper should be tagged an anti-NDC. Anyway, it's good that NDC has lost. The cause of the lost is the fault of all NDC members including stubborn Asiedu Nketia and these babies with sharp teeth. Rest in peace, NDC. See you for another humiliation come 2020, 2024 and 2028. We live to see you in opposition.

What does this al -hajj ignoramus revisionist so called paper takes Ghanaians for? That we are non thinking gullibles eh? The publisher/editor of the above paper was heard on radio some few days prior to the December elections hallucinating that Mahama would confidently win the elections and Nana Addo and the NPP would go down in defeat. So my question is, why all this rationalization of the NDC disgraceful defeat? This paper lacks any credibility.

You are one of the reasons NDC was defeated. Some of your utterances were lies, you are one of the many 'stomach journalists who thrive on lies.
To begin with, it is very difficult for the NDC to genuinely win election in Ghana. I have never seen one since the inception of the 4th Republic.
