You hit the nail right on its head. The man Amidu did not not respect what is termed ministerial responsibility. All democracies adhere to cabinet collective responsibility but not Amidu.
Cabinet solidarity is purely a political convention designed to maintain or protect the collective good as perceived by a partisan ministry.Amidu breached that convention in a big way and lost the trust touch.
He definitely can not be trusted to keep secrets as he behaves in a childish way.The Akufo government will do well to keep their distance from such a loose canon.

There can be no ideological differences in the fight against corruption or any crime. I am sure the writer understands this perfectly well.
In a nutshell, all the writer is concerned about in the inclusion of Amidu in Akufo-Addo's government is not Amidu's integrity per se, but rather, the integrity of the NPP itself. The writer is concerned Amidu would spill the beans. That is the gist of this long essay, and it leads me to believe that the fight against corruption by NPP is all talk and no substance.
We remember when JA Kufuor declared zero tolerance for corruption at the beginning of his mandate, and later became the most corrupt President in the company of John Mahama. We remember, and we are watching!!!

He had an ulterior motive, he is pissed because President Mills chose President Mahama over him. When you read his articles, they are always laced with envy for the out-going president. NPP should feel free to appoint Amidu to unearth all corrupt practices including the Kuffour era. Addo Kuffour will not escape the probe of his unilateral purchase of inferior Mahindra vehicles for the Forces when he was Minister of Defence. If I were NDC I would gather all documents on corruption during the Kuffour (which Atta-Mills refused to prosecute for the sake of peace) ready for prosecution. Amidu is a Lone Ranger and will not spare even the NPP. Corruption lense should cut across and include the civil service, police, customs, judges etc. Ghana b3y3 de rough

Your ideas about politics, Mr. Nana Yaw Osei, are of the corrupt and unprincipled kind which must not have a place in Ghana. What is the NPP ideological leanings and what is that of NDC? The ideologies you talk about if any are nothing more than labels for the NDC does not practice principles that are in line with core socialism; they practice greed. The NPP as is the case pretend to know a damn thing about free market and or democratic values byt only as slogans. Would Kufour had been ale to hand over parts of the stadium renovation contract to China prior to parliamentary approval or disburse all the assets of Ghana Airways on the cheap without public notifixation of a pending auction? And where in capitalist free market driven economic activity would you find school feeding and all the things Kufour did that were more in line with socialist construct than anything done by the NDC?
Your fear of Amidu is not about ideology, Mr. Nana Yaw Osei but the potential for the NPP to expose Amidu as either a fraud and a nasty and vindictive person or for Martin Amidu to expose the rot designed and in waiting by the NPP. If Amidu is to retain his "citizen vigilante" title he will have to hold the NPP in check and you, Mr Nana Yaw Osei, is simply afraid a Mr Amidu with his standards may frustrate an NPP administration that have been licking their lips waiting for this lifetime opportunity to rob Ghana blind under Nana Akufo-Addo administration. So let the second thoughts on Martin Amidu begin with an NPP bunch who praised Martin for his vigilante services but like a bull dog may one day bite it's owner, the NPP, that made him a hero for his hatred of the party that sidelined him from the looting activities of the NDC.

I wholly agree with your position that Amidu's inclusion in Npp government will be harbinger of imminent doom for the party because of his lack of organizational integrity. indeed, Amidu is perfect example of "pepenii" -one who will speak the truth regardless of negative consequences of his action. All Amidu wants is to be glorified for his deep-seated intellectual capacity. Personally, he is not very effective in applying his intelligence because he allows his emotions and desire to seek public recognition to supersede his reasoning.

Can Mr Amidu work within the political ideological differences of NDC and NPP if ever there now exists one? Mr Amidu never for once faulted the developmental projects of his Party only THE CORRUPTION even then chiefly that of one individual. Let Ghanaians wait for his cross-examination of The NDC financier, Mr Alfred Woyome. Fact is there is a thin line between treachery, i.e being a traitor and a patriot. For how many years did Mr Amidu remained an NDC loyalist? Did he have any reason to believe that these golden legal trickeries would not happen in NPP? The proverbial axiom that the Accountant who blows the whistle on his company has earned an indefinite early retirement could perhaps spell the definition of the actions of Mr Amidu. Instead of exhausting the internal guidelines - pulling the dagger on his party is what though immensely will benefit competetitors, will still get them concerned. What real efforts did Mr Amidu put up to right the wrongs in his own party at a time when several high profile members of the other party are equally crying WOLF in the other party.
Like Mr Martin Amidu, ex-President J.J Rawlings was on these same corruption charge. Corruption charge is ions of miles apart from political ideology. If the only real political ideology of the founder of NDC as a Party was "probity and Accountability" it begs the question what will happen before this vague ideology?
In the outgoing President, John Dramani Mahama, Ghana had a President who planned to change the landscape of Ghana with noticesable infrastructures, big and small. The bottleneck roads connecting 37, La and Teshie disappeared within his tenure, a problem that had existed from the time of Dr Nkrumah in the 1960s. The traffic at Kwame Nkrumah Circle disappearing and all we were hoodwinked with were Economic Data which 90% of Ghanaians did not understand but bought in coupled with very top members of NDC assassinating The President with Corruption tag and in their own tiny worlds lack of probity as if Ghana has no Accountants auditing the Government proverbs.
In my estimation His Excellrncy John Dramani Mahama actually earned the Title His Excellency and made Ghana extremely proud with his mantra "Transforming Ghana".
Nana's mantra of One village, one dam is not an NPP ideology, his NHIS mantra is not NPP ideology, his free SHS is not NPP ideology and this state sponsored one factory in 300 districts is your guess - Dr Danquah will be turning in his grave as the saying goes as the Osagyefo's dream Ghana ideology is unfolding before our eyes. Nana will go into the History Books of Ghana as a great social democrat with equally transformational ideology.
He may need citizen vigilantes who will help probe all the Governments massive projects - not private sector initiatives.
Anti corruption as well as a countability and probity are no political ideoligies. No Government anywhere in the world will be remembered for such. They are by products.
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will never be disgraced when great leaders - visionaries in Ghana are mentioned. Mr Martin Amidu will have his day in Court and Ghana will be watching. J.J Rawlings world is an ongoing world spanning to infinity. In the meantime, Nana has factories and dams to build and and a host more. We will all relish monies in our pockets instead of in the pockets of the claimed few.
Long live Ghana!

appointing A.B.K Amidu is a decision in the right direction but the truth is that it'll come with a high price.
BENEFIT: since Amidu knows the inside-out of the NDC administration, he can easily reveal the corrupt officials based on solid evidence which can help Akufo Addo's administration to deal with these corrupt officials in the mahama administration. again, he's experienced politician who has seen much in terms of governance hence he can contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN.
how will people react to his appointment?
again, some secretes within the Akufo Addo's administration will get exposed.
moreover, how will some NPP faithfuls who also fought for the party's victory also react?
in the nutshell Amidu's inclusion to the new administration will be a blessing to the state in fighting corrupt officials under the mahama administration but may endanger the culture of the NPP.
