Spare us this sermon. People decide what interest them and fake celebrities like you cannot dictate to them. The same people you are lambasting for making Rashida popular instead of the Extremely intellingent KNUST medical student are the same people who have sustained your mediocre acting career. Why? Because they are confused. They want the best but settle for less. They are religious but condone and do evil. They are respectful and yet insult pastors and politicians. They are feminist and yet bring their fellow women down. They are popular but don't want others like Rashida to be famous like them. Lydia, do I sense some elitism in your article? You are pissed because a girl like Rashida who cannot read or write sophisticated English is becoming a star. Her sexual prowess or knowledge of sex shouldn't be your problem. Who are you to dictate when a girl should have sex or how much knowledge she should have? Who knows what you do in secret and who cares anyway? Your decision not to share a nude picture of a celebrity is laudable but for your friend to even have the audacity to send it to means you are no angel so spare us your sermon and support people like Rashida to enjoy their new found fame.

Whom do you think your daughter will listen to when she is being ADVISED you or Rashida's clip? Rashida's message is simple and straightforward. Girls don't spend your money on guys who don't work, period.

Even though I personally don't like Rashida that much particularly the content of her viral video, I think the criticisms labelled against her and the organizers of the Jigwe Award are too much. Those who are criticizing the organizers must first look at the category of award she was nominated for and of which she subsequently won. She was not nominated for the most educative video of the year or something equivalent but rather the most viral video of the year. Viral in this sense means something that spreads rapidly among a given populace within a given period of time. I think the emphasis of the organisers was not on the moral aspect of the content of the video but rather on the rapidity with which it spread. We must give them a break.
The writer also claims that she's not interested in giving attention to people like this. But believe it or not, she has had your numerous attention and you are even adding to her popularity and fame.
Whether by Providence or an act of humanity, Rashida has now become famous than the 'right' people that according to you deserved this popularity. Your wishes are not the same as that planned by Providence.
I think the criticisms are too much. We all have a part to play to keep her upright if we think her actions were wayward.
After all we all have different roads to reach our destiny and to achieving greatness.

Ghanaians are not confused but this writer certainly is.
She begins her rant against the society for extolling a promising comedian in search of her trope, and ends up with an admonition to the society to help her change her ways.
If the writer were not confused, she would have understood that Rashida is a genius in the genre of the comedic arts, which also involves creative insults; and that the Ghanaian people clearly see her talent and spirit and want to give her the chance to lighten up their lives. Without a doubt, that girl is going places.
So the last thing we need here is a lecture on so-called Ghanaian morality and values. Ghana is a secular nation with no prescribed values and morality as the one the writer seeks to advance; and it is within this same permissive cultural milieu that this writer has advanced her own career as an actress.
Please, learn not to judge so harshly.
The body of comedy which Rashida is advertising with her video clips is a recognized genre worldwide, and is the most innocuous for a society full of corruption, ethnocentrism and religious hypocrisy.
These latter ills are the matters that ought to occupy the writer's fertile mind, not the matter of a young woman instigating hilarious laughter amongst Ghanaians.
Leave Rashida alone to be Rashida.

Anybody who has attended a boarding school in Ghana knows children in Ghana aren't angels even at the ages of 12 and 13. So why are you making it seem as if having sex at the age she did was something strange? She was living with her boyfriend and that could only mean that their parents knew and approved of their relationship. That's their prerogative!
Let me tell you something, Miss Forson: every country, even the advanced ones, has these reality-TV kind of stars. There is appetite for such trivialities the kind they produce and that's why the Kardashians are millionaires. They have something that not everyone has, including you, no matter how much you try to degrade that kind of talent.
And what I also find condescending is your claim that she was given the award just to make fun of her. What nonsense! What is so special about those 2by4 awards shows that are shown almost every month in Ghana and other African countries honouring American-wannabe ruffians and face-bleaching ladies anyway? Does it mean that these awards shows also poke fun at these face-bleaching ladies with fake hair, fake nails, fake boobs and fake eyelashes for their fake acting?

This is the first time I have read a few paragraphs of lydia's work. Is this what A Plus referred to as someone who could write? No, I will give her below average. Poor punctuation, bad organization, and disconnected arguments. What exactly was the main argument of this post? If the award is a spoof but the girl as well as your readers had no clue that's what it is, shouldn't you be talking about the failed organization, hence the confusion?
Whether a spoof or not, why should this young woman, who is obviously on the wrong path and needs guidance from folks like you, be made the center of further attention? If readers didn't understand the purpose of the award, what makes you think other young children will understand and thus stay clear from engaging in the kind of immorality the video and the subsequent award promotes.
You need to be a better critical thinker than this. I also advise you to get your facts straight and to stop shooting posts left and right without adding significant substance to the debate.
