Akufo-Addo promised one factory for each district and one million dollars for each district.
I don't know why many people confuse this with constituencies. The present writer says:
"Ghana needs $ 500 million to set up 275 factories in all the constituencies but the country can start with $300 million if it cannot get the whole amount."
Akufo-Addo didn't promise one factory for each constituency so the writer is probably misleading his readers.
Ghana, as at now, has 216 districts including the municipal areas that have been demarcated on their own and the metropolitan areas. So Akufo-Addo needs "only" 216 new factories and not 275. In the same way he needs to gift 216 million dollars to the administrative districts and not 275 million dollars.
The districts are administrative areas carved out according to geographical size. The electoral constituencies are carved out according to population. That is why Greater Accra Region is made up of "only" 16 districts, 2 of which are metropolitan areas and 7 known as municipalities. But the region has 34 constituencies.
We should be mindful of this important distinction when we make analyses

U are wrong on the one million dollars issue. The one million dollars is for each constituencies whiles the factories are for each district.

Master, One District One Factory can be done easily. We can have even more than one factory per district. I am surprised that for almost one week that I sent my article to media houses including ghanaweb about how it can be done this has not been published. If we cannot do One District One Factory in this country, then woe to our independence.

The best thing that would ever happen to the economy of Ghana since we gained independence would be the successful implementation of 1factory per district. It will ensure the gradual growth of our rural economies with the ancillary effect of curbing the rural- urban migration, create wealth and ensure a deliverance of improved quality of life.
Virtually every district in the country has a natural resource that can be developed in the form of value addition. However; the pursuit of this agenda should not lead us into taken some measures that will have debilitating effect on our lives. We should be more focused on enhancing the capacities of the indigenous Ghanaian entrepreneur to own these businesses. It will be unfortunate to rely on foreigners to develop our economy because they will certainly repatriate their profit back to their countries. This will entail getting the required forex which will begin to exert pressure on the stability of the local currency as well as our reserves.
What we need to understand is that, we need to approach this concept of rural industrialisation the Indian and Chinese way. We should not be looking at hi-tech factories or equipment. The Indians can for instance provide a Mango juice extraction machinery at a cost of $250.000-$300.000 . We should therefore be looking at these directions to be able to grow gradually rather than look at European model which is expensive and sophisticated.
Government should therefore look at how it can use the EDAIF BANK to synergies with local entrepreneurs to implement this laudable program.

It is always easy to sit somewhere in your room and dream that One district, One factory is doable, and to list what you think are factories that could be set up. That is how illiterates behave. If it were that easy, a whole lot of us in Ghana and other African countries would have set up such factories. Setting up viable and sustainable factories to give meaningful employment to the teaming youth in our districts goes beyond mere dreams and paper work. How large are those factories going to be? How many people are those factories going to employ in the district? Where is the raw material base, and how sustainable is the supply going to be to keep the factories running at optimum and operationally viable levels throughout the year? Where is the market for those products in order that all that is produced daily throughout the year can have market to keep the factories functional? What about the availability of utilities at price levels that will enable those factories to be viable? Note that the private sector which is touted as the sector that will be encouraged to set up these factories don't just make decisions on the whims, caprices and desires of politicians and day dreamers like you. Afterall there are quite a number of various types of fresh juice factories that produce in small quantities, and yet are struggling to survive because the market is just not there. Ghanaians are not a type of people who consume juices generally, and in quantities that will support the sustainability of such an industry. We live to see, and Ghanaians will surely demand that this, and other such phantom "we must win at all cost and by any means, fair or foul" promises are fulfilled. Anything short of this will be a disaster for the NPP going forward. They raised the expectations of Ghanaians to fever high levels, and thus, no excuses will be accepted. It is time for redemption, so we wait for those who claim eternal competence to fulfill their promises. Time will surely tell. Mahama's record await you for comparison, so be ware.

One district one factory is bad economic policy destined to fail, and I am surprised the so called astute economist, Bawumia, is part of the NPP hierarchy that formulated this dud one district one factory policy.
Good governments the world over do not build factories, in other words, good governments do not meddle in the private sector, rather, they create economic environment (incentives) to attract investors to invest in sectors of the economy earmarked for development. One such incentive is tax incentives, where the government provides tax holidays for the company, or other incentives such as paying employees' salaries for a specific period of time in the agreement. Other incentives include suspending payroll taxes for the company.
This is how all reputable capitalist governments operate, unless perhaps it is a socialist or communist government. As I have maintained all along, no Ghanaian leadership currently living in Ghana can be trusted to turn the economy around, not withstanding Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, because Ghanaians and most probably Africans at large do not understand the intricacies of governance.
The only two leaders who demonstrated the knowledge of governance lived substantially in abroad before coming down to Ghana to lead the country. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Dr. KA Busia were the only leaders in our short history who had the acumen to govern; leaders from JJ Rawlings JA Kufuor, John Atta Mills and John Mahama were useless administrators - these were Ghanaian bred and trained, and had no knack for governance. Akufo-Addo will fail as well unless he brings on board a Ghanaian who has lived abroad and understands the western financial system, especially the ramification of fiscal policy in nation building.

Bombadlier or whatever u call yourself. Why the need for this long useless comment? Npp never said building the factory was easy, neither did they say that it was impossible. Get it clear, the fact that something is hard to achieve, doesn't mean it can't be achieved. Why do we blacks have such lazy minds. We want to thwart every single effort to progress. Look at the whooping sum of money we yearly waste on corruption and tell me if we can't build this factories and more, by saving these monies, plus attracting foreign investors.
We will remain like this, if we keep on with this kind of defeatist mentality.
