On the issue of service to our dear nation, you know that both you and I are ready and willing to serve if called to do so. I was in Ghana during the entire summer to offer service in other ways.
Greetings to the family!

He doesn't need to follow any ethnic balance in the make up of his cabinet. He can fill it up completely with Akyems and Asantes if he likes as long as they all do right by the entire country. There's no need to give token representation to tribes. He must work with those he feels confident with and can speak Twi with behind the scenes.
The more important thing are the posts down the line. There are too many positions in the parastatals and civil service that are filled by party appointees. This is where the tribalism is most pertinent.
And we really need a change in constitution that reduces the power of the president.

You are advocating something that has just contributed to the downfall of NDC. It tells me you haven't learnt any lessons as the dust has probably not settled in your neck of the woods yet. Those who ignore their history often have themselves to blame. Akufo-Addo's ministerial make-up is what will stick in everyone's mind first. He must set a good example with his these appointments if he is to achieve the trickle-down effect you refer to. Let's not go down the road of the outgoing Mahama administration, they must be kicking themselves now as they ponder over the mistakes that led to their downfall.

It's true that today, you can get competent people in every ethnic group in Ghana. But that doesn't mean that Akufo is going to find those competent people at his beck and call. The competent people he may want for his cabinet from other ethnic groups may either not be available for him to choose, may not even be willing to work with him or be too much of an opposition figure to be an insider in the cabinet. If he pursues ethnic balance under this circumstances, he will be forced to appoint non-Akans who may not be as competent as the Asantes and Akyems also wanting ministerial posts. In this situation he should choose competent over ethnic balance.
The bigger problem are the non-ministerial but important posts in the civil and public service, the diplomatic corps, the parastatals, etc. This is where Ghanaians really feel the pinch of tribalism. Is he going to sack such people because they belong to the wrong tribe or party? That was were previous govts made the worst mistakes.
There are only a few ministerial posts even though they are the most visible ones. The problem is down the scales...
Let's hope he does what is best. The pressures of the post are enormous.

The const says parties based on tribe or religion are not allowed. But I don't think the constitution bars Akufo from filling his cabinet with only Akyems and Asantes. After all, they're all Ghanaians.

BUT what if 90% of the REAL experts are from the Mande tribe?
The government is not a family picnic. Rather, it is a complex system made up of institutions and requiring a team of world-class EXPERTS, regardless of their tribal origins.

Akufo Ado must be a different leader and grow out of tribalism. But the distribution you suggested is unworkable. I think he must stick to just Regional distribution with Executive appointments in line with the constitution. But what about the military, police, civil service , NADMO, Immigration, scholarship holders----which has invariably favoured Ewes and Northeners. I think a fairer distribution of the regional
balance must be found.

In sum it talks, among many others about national unity, equality, equity, regional and ethnic balance in appointments, gender mainstreaming, judicial use of discretionary power etc. Kindly take another look at the provisions on the "Directive Principles of State Policy" and also article 296 if my.memory is still reliable.
