A while ago the author came out with a piece on the subject of child-naming, examining it within the context of Akan culture.
It is a pleasant to note that he has managed to come out with this nice sequel

This article is interesting and mind opening. I agree that name giving can be an impact on the child's life. That is why is some count ties certain names are even forbidden to give to a child. Great work!

Darkness should stop is not zanetor, is rather vivitsi ne do. The piece is good but some of the interpretation is not correct, I want to believe the real name is not zanetor because is meaningless it might be zinetor to mean let there be confusion. No serious ewe would say zanetor is not even anlo ewe.

You know Rawlings Ewe is not very good. Maybe he thought he was giving a great name to his daughter.
Some people say Ezanetor, others say Zenator (which is definitely wrong) but Zanetor can be the short form of Ezanetor and when it is a name, it doesn't have to be correctly Ewe.
Some people also say it is a juju name...
I don't know what the girl herself thinks of it and if she speaks better Ewe (Anlo) than the father.
Anyway, she is riding high on her father's name. I don't know if she could have ventured into politics without the shadow of her father in the background.

The name ZANETOR was inspired by the corrupt activities of the politicians during the period Rawlings came to power. "A zanududua netor" which means bribery, corruption and kalabule should stop.

Speaking for Ewe names, most of them are shortened "appellations" with meanings beyond the name. Examples as Vivor (Bad child) and Kpordugbe (Tiger eat grass) have interesting appellations which most of the youth do not know.

Kumanini, you should also be worried about your name because your name can easily be manipulated by the spirits. You will see a lot of pythons which you will have to kill.

Who told you Rawlings cannot speak proper ewe, he can even teach you how to speak ewe, he pretend someone who can even sing the tradition song in ewe, have you get close to rawlings, who brought him up is he not his mother, do you want to tell me that the mother can not speak proper ewe. The name is on something for Rawling, and is a long name, Ne meyorwoa Ezinetor meaning if I call you there should be confusion, is a name for protection. The ewes would say ele dzoka dzi ne. He would never tell anybody the real meaning because the name is for the purpose, I am telling and take it from me.

Wow! this is another great cultural-awakening article! Somebody may ask what is in a name? There is something actually in a name-it can be a curse or a blessing. That is why parents are very careful in naming a child. The author could have gone far and cited other tribes or ethnic groups in Ghana and beyond. Anyway, there is something mysterious in a name!!! Meanwhile, thank you for this write up! Akos.
