Ghana's economy under Nkrumah was at its embryonic stage. Natural resources like gold and diamond were in abundance in the colonial South Africa? Nkrumah cutting commercial ties with an apartheid south Africa had infinitesimal effect on that country. Despite Nkrumah's visionary leadership and massive socio-economic development under his regime, the budget of 1965 showed a huge deficit. At 1966, Nkrumah had turned Ghana into a "poverty stricken frightened economy, isolated diplomatically and on the verge of national suicide" (Adu Boahen). In 1961, Nkrumah took 10 million pounds to the wicked Sekuo Toure who destroyed his country. Danquah had no evil intention. Nkrumah's despotism created a huge a economic challenges for the young Ghana.

Let Kwarteng remember that once you become a president or a leader in any African country, it does not matter how stupid, dictatorial, or average you are, many people start worship you regardless of your accomplishments.
