With myriad of socio-economic problems facing the country, it is imperative Ghanaians elect a commander-in-chief with a clean bill of health to steer the ship.
It's deja vu all over again with our experience with President Atta Mills, where NDC superimposed the late President upon us, knowing without a doubt that President Atta Mills was invalid. According AfricaWatch, the 72 years old Akufo-Addo was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, and we Ghanaians must be careful not to create an opportunity for another incompetent doublespeak northerner to sneak into the Presidency as was the case with John Mahama.
This is a very relevant question, and it behooves Akufo-Addo to anwer it.

My friend Idiot, first of all, there is no argument here - it was a statement in which John Mahama was described as 'incompetent doublespeak northerner'. How is my description of Mahama different from yours? Do you have a problem understanding the English language, and do you understand the word 'tergiversation'?

Kwabena Yeboah, I hundred percent agreed with you. I have said it on this site over and over again that, I have nothing bad against the npp since I have voted for it all along but this time around, I am not going to vote, for one simple reason. I don,t want another pepeman to come to power again, should the worse happened. God forbid anyway. So that it is much better to stick with the one I know. At least, I know him already and can deal with him. We must be very careful with what is going on. And from look of things and utterances of Bawumia, he is up to something. It is not the vice president that he is after, after all. It is for this reason that majority of us will not vote for the npp to allow another pepeni to take over from the one already here.

Joe my friend, I have nothing against northerners - they are as Ghanaian as me, and have inalienable right to compete in our national elections as Dr. Ayirega, Dr. Mahama and others.
That quote from me underlies the fallacy of the two dominant parties going to the north to choose vice presidential candidates. You would agree with me that no civilized democracy chooses a vice presidential candidate on the account of affirmative action, or whatever the rational could be.
The question all Ghanaian should be asking is: Could JD Mahama have become the substantive President of the Republic if he had formed a party and stood as a Presidential candidate? Maybe yes, or maybe no. Another question is, is JD Mahama the best northern Ghana could offer in terms of leadership? I believe there are better qualified Presidential material in northern Ghana than JD Mahama, but through this unscrupulous political process that positioned him as vice president, he sneaked into the Presidency through the backdoor when President Atta Mills died.
Now we have instant where another northerner, Bawumia, is chosen as vice president for the 72-year old Akufo-Addo who has been diagnosed with cancer. There two main question to ask: 1) Could Bawumia win an election on his own mettle if he formed his own political party and stood as a candidate? 2) Suppose Akufo-Addo expires before his term of office, could Bawumia control the NPP establishment and steer the ship of state?
We have ample reason to doubt Bawumia's ability, especially to control the NPP establishment given his age and experience in national politics, suppose Akufo-Addo wins the elections. We know how another northerner fared when he was shoed in from nowhere to become President of Ghana by the late Imoro Egala. The less said about Dr. Hilla Limann's administration in 1979 until he was toppled in December 1981, the better. Our country can be served better!!!

Nana Akuffo Addo is 72 years old and it is not a surprise to me he has been traveling to London occasionally for medical treatment since 2013 . What would have surprised me is if he had not been going for medical check ups.
I see Akuffo Addo as a responsible man even abandoning a political campaign at this time to go for medical treatment if that is what his recent foray to London and Germany is meant for.
Kofi Aka is a responsible middle age family man living in England and I know he goes for medical check ups and treatment occasionally. As we age, we encounter ailments associated with old age so why do we act like Akuffo Addo is a superman that should not be sick?
We forced 'irresponsible' Agya Atta Mills to jog under the scorching sun to jog at Kotoka Airport tarmac in suit to prove that he was not sick and that man died within two months after that despite the fact that his hands and face were turning really black. Hopefully Nana Akuffo Add will not resort to that and tell Ghanaians as an old man, he has ailments that needs to be watched and as a responsible man, he will take care of his health.
Attack Mills was running to T.B Joshua for a sickness that needed medical attention and that is not a responsible behaviour. The very day he died, his handlers were bundling him to Nigeria to go and seek cure from T.B Joshua.

Massa SARPONG, it's true that looks can be deceptive and the healthy can drop dead today whiles the seemingly ill go on living longer. In fact, the ill can live longer because they know they are ill and take better care of themselves than those who think they are healthy.
But, truth be told, SARPONG, are you not saying this only because you support NPP and Akufo-Addo? If you look at all the four people given the greenlight, which one of them looks most sickly?
It is Nana who looks mostly sickly, is the oldest and the one about whom there are rumours of illness. So it is natural that he is the one whose health status has to be discussed most, not the other seemingly healthy looking guys. Don't let your party sympathies cloud your judgment on this issue. If it is the NDC candidate who looks old and sickly, you will be interested in discussing his health status too.
Anyway, my private opinion is that Akufo-Addo (whose name you insist on writing Akuffo Addo) has no obligation to tell Ghanaians anything about his health. He should adopt the strategy that he and his advisers think will be most beneficial to his campaign. If it is to keep quiet, so be it and no one can force him to disclose anything.
My view is independent of whether I support him or not. I only support his right to keep mum if he so chooses.

SARPONG, I do not expect Nana Akufo-Addo to be superman. In fact, I did say in the article that we are all mortals.
On the question of not considering other presidential candidates, it's not necessary for a number of reasons. First, there are only two candidates who can win the presidency (Mahama and Akufo-Addo). It would be a waste of time to consider the others apart from the two. Moreover, and as I indicated the article is the result of what has been reported by AfricaWatch and from my own observation. In fact, it was Prof Okoampa-Ahoofe who first mentioned that the Executive Editor of AfricaWatch was once close to Nana Akufo-Addo and that made me suspect that he might have inside information.
I agree with you that looks alone cannot determine the health or otherwise of a person but I have followed Ghanaian politics, especially under the 4th Republic long enough to understand what is happening.
I also agree with you that the late Prof Mills might have neglected his health by seeking solace in fake prophets such as TB Joshua.

Since I confirmed that Akufo-Addo went to Oxford in November 2012, have you even heard the subject being discussed again or being used by his opponents against him? Until I confirmed it it was a subject for discussion among politicians in Ghana especially, between NDC and NPP. NDC saying he was there and NPP saying he was not there but it was his father who was there. I put a stop to it. MASSA KOFI, as natural humans, with age comes a myriad of illnesses. Given African Watch's claims about Nana Akufo-Addo's health and his frequent visits to London and Germany, it may be possible that Nana may have some health issues. Somehow, it raises the question whether he is fit to become President. What don't know is the seriousness of what he's suffering from. It could be for normal routine medical check-ups or very serious health condition[s].
The fact that health is a taboo subject in campaign politics, and the nasty nature of Ghana's politics, I just cannot see Nana Akufo-Addo coming clean about his health. The public may never know the truth about his medical problems.

I can tell you that my confirmation that Nana Akufo-Addo went to Oxford did put an end to the story and since then the speculation has stopped. I did him a good favour otherwise it would still be a topic for discussion between NDC and NPP.
What is wrong with being partisan? Did I tell you I do not have a mind of my own? I have a view on socio-economic and political issues but I am objective and that is not pretence. Being objective does not mean being neutral or non partisan.
I asked a legitimate question of public interest.
