We have to be realistic and share the blame appropriately, and take some responsibility for ourselves, too. It does not have to take Mahama's 4 years in Office, (assuming he does not win the Elections to last for two terms), to unlearn how to use 'Loss' and 'Loose'.
Anyone old enough to show up here on this forum to make a comment, should have had the time and the opportunity to educate himself or herself sufficiently to know the difference between the two words and how to use them correctly, all our common human fallibility notwithstanding. You get my drift? The previous Regimes are also to blame, too. Don't you think so?
Don't get me wrong. I am not necessarily denying our Education System needs much improvement. I am only skeptic about your assertion of how the System got to that low point of performance. Our Educational System has long been deteriorating, with every President since the 90s applying the wrong tweaks to shape it up, ignoring the most necessary advice of Experts.
We have politicized our quest for relevant quality in everything we do, and that has blinded us to what is really needed to be done.
As much as the Government owns part of the responsibility to ensure quality Education for all, we, as individuals ought to apply ourselves to our utmost, given how important Education is to our individual achievements. If, for example, the person whose comment you responded to had had the occasion to encounter the words "Loss" and "Loose", it was his or her responsibility to fully avail himself or herself of how to use them accurately. We must use words whose meanings we are confident we understand. Even if we first heard them from someone else, we owe it to ourselves to learn more about them to ascertain we use them correctly. That is just an example of how we all need to confront our Nation's many problems.
Our personal responsibility must be paramount in how we build our lives up. Government's part of providing infrastructure is essential but there are certain things we do not need the Government's intervention to do them right.
