The Graphic is just a tool in the hands of corrupt people. We've had enough stumbles with them in the Awoeme Fia case. When we wrote rejoinders to publicity they gave that impostor Agboba, caught in this scandal too- his source of the honorary doctorate, A-Bucket University, doesn't even have an address in the UK, The Graphic always refused to publish. Even when we wanted to pay for it, they'd claim their lawyers had to go through, and that would be the end of it. They are completely unethical there! Shame on them. They are part of the problem in Ghana.

The Daily Graphic of today is no longer the paper which had endeared the hearts and minds of people who have been its faithful readers. The pioneer editors and managers of the paper established a standard which subsequent successors should have adhered to with a view to maintaining the paper's premium quality. Unfortunately however those running the affairs of the company have compromised themselves and brought the Graphic to its knees. I hope they will do what is right and ethical this time

But this matter must be pursued to the bitter end. We must know the truth.
As for Alabi, he should just publish his cv here on ghanaweb and other websites so that all of us will see what he's really worth. He should do that.

The Daily Graphic is within its rights not to publish the writers' rejoinder/s.
Article 9 of the GJA's Code of Ethics states that whenever there is an inaccurate or misleading report, it should be corrected promptly and given prominence.
Article 10 (ii) of the Code also states that any report or write-up affecting the reputation of any individual or organization without a chance to reply is unfair and must be avoided.
The two authors, Dr. Prosper Tsikata and Dr. Dotse gave inaccurate and misleading reports against certain individuals by asserting conclusively that because these individuals got their credentials from unaccredited universities, therefore their credentials are fake. Their report was also inaccurate regarding the universities which thy sought to malign, many of which have the requisite status in their own countries. This brings into question what the two meant by "accreditation".
Given the above, the two authors are the wrong-doers and those against whom they perpetrated their wrongs are those entitled to a rejoinder, not the two whose acts affected the reputation of these individuals and organizations.
Accordingly, Daily Graphic had a duty under Article 9 of the Code to correct the misleading and inaccurate report and to promptly apologize, giving the apology due prominence. The Paper has discharged that duty.
The Paper also gave the individuals and organizations involved the opportunity to reply as per Article 10
of the Code. These Organizations are the SMC and NAB among others.
It is disingenuous to argue that the two wrong-doers must be given the chance to repeat or to affirm and defend their inaccurate and misleading report which is determined to be so by a recognized agency. The law gives nobody such a right to a rejoinder under such circumstances and the article has cited to none.
According to existing laws, the Daily Graphic's view of the Report must be given due deference. See Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc., 467 U.S. 837 (1984).

Is it not the same Daily Graphic that has been used to publicize all those fake degrees? Did Daily Graphic find it relevant to issue an apology to its readers as the authors are saying? Maybe because the reading public is damn stupid that they cannot demand accountability from the managers of the Daily Graphic, so Daily Graphic has been sleeping on the job. Some of its journalist take money, cars, and other goodies from people and plant their stories in the paper. Where did you find any inaccuracy in the report of the authors? They have set Ghana on fire. Now, even the man in the street also knows that the NDC chairman, Ayariga, IGP, and the rest are all fake. I like the persistence of these two. Un-Ghanaian but in a very positive way. Folks, more fire!

But it looks like the Daily Graphic has taken sides in a matter that has not been resolved. The matter is of public interest and unless it is resolved, the national daily should be seen to be an honest broker.
Both sides to the dispute are Ghanaians. The DG has the right to arbitrarily decide not to publish a rejoinder despite the constitutional stipulations of the interest organization to which it belongs. But the DG has a moral responsibility to give adequate space to both sides of the dispute. The two researchers are accusing the national daily of deliberately trying to suppress their side of the story and giving undue advantage to the other side. But the DG should be an instrument in the resolution of this conflict by allowing both sides to fight it out in a reasonable way. They are not doing that. The editor cannot say he did not receive an email sent to him at the correct address or deny that hand delivered documents were not so delivered. He should not use subterfuge to deny one side of the argument a say. If the paper has reasons not to publish the two researchers' re-rejoinder, it should make that public.
Right now, it seems the DG is caving in to pressure on one side when it should be neutral. The public needs to be told the truth and the DG is not contributing to that quest.
The two researchers also referred to the national constitution rather than the constitution of an interest organization. I thought you would have commented on that.
Personally I am most concerned about the credentials of (Prof) Alabi. Whether the institutions he attended are accredited or not, he should prove his mettle by making known to the public all his academic publications - his various doctoral theses and the supervising professors, his journal publications, conference papers, seminar participations, books and co-edited works and, possibly, how many times his works have been cited by others. This is the only thing that can redeem him.
Academics are assessed by colleagues in the field. He should submit himself to that assessment and the matter will be resolved in the eyes of his colleagues and students.

3. Prof. Alabi has no duty to prove anything to anybody. It is presumed that he met the standards set before being employed.
4. The duty is on those making allegations against Prof. Alabi to prove same by the preponderance of the evidence in a court of competent jurisdiction. So far, they have failed.

I am sure the learned professors have quoted the guiding instrument: Article 162(6) to buttress their point. If you publish an article that touches on someone's personality, they have a right to a rejoinder. Alabi cannot succeed by hiding behind the Daily Graphic to promote this stupidity known as SMC and (what is it called) Middle University of Nicaragua on the people of Ghana. The cat is already out of the bag. Even the most stupid and the unschooled in Ghana today knows that there is fraud in the academy, and Alabi and the wife are the kingpins who have promoted this for so long. I like the courage of these two fellows. Why dont you, Dr. SAS dare them with a rejoinder? I see they have promptly provided rejoinders constantly to dig further below the Alabis. Goski and Okoe are said to have published in paid journals. They referred to that as predatory journals. I have been following Tsikata on facebook and this guy post materials that are very educative. Please SAS, dare these folks with a rejoinder and let the conversation continue. At UPSA now, people are pointing fingers at these shameless Alata man called Alabi. The post of the Vice-Chancellor has been brought into serious disrepute. Sooner or later, I believe the scale will fall from the eyes of the students who will march on these criminals. Why not Middle University of Togo, Benin, or Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Afghanistan? Shameless fools.

I don't care what effect the professors' work had on the individuals involved. Those individuals can assert their own recourse under the laws of Ghana.
All I have stated repeatedly is that all of the Professors' arguments are moot or even infantile and unacademic, if not altogether illegal.
Now, I have also answered their complaint which they have printed here against the Daily Graphic. I am 100% sure that NMC will dismiss their complaint with the contempt it deserves.
If anybody has any issues of facts and law here, that person may proceed with an intelligent interrogation of what I have already written.
And what I have written is that the laws regarding rejoinders were made for the benefit of those the two wayward doctors have maligned, and so the doctors as the wrong-doers, cannot therefore turn around and assert any right therein.
That is all I can say for now.

Ben, note that SAS's argument has all along been purely on the legalities of the case not on the actual "store of knowledge" possessed by Alabi and all the others named by the two researchers. His argument has nothing to do with his own academic qualifications or what title he calls himself so let's leave that out and address the crux of the issue.
Some of us feel that even if, per SAS's argument, the two researchers are not pursuing the case in a legalistic way, they are certainly on to something. There are certainly many fake, cheap and higher degrees obtained by false means in the Ghanaian educational system and beyond. This is just part of the hopeless way we do everything in Ghana. There are many well qualified and brilliant Ghanaians in the system but there are also fraudsters among them. Something must be done about them and the two researchers must be encouraged to go about it in a proper way. It is a Herculean task they have taken upon themselves fighting very powerful forces. Like SAS says the onus is on them to prove their case beyond reasonable doubts at least in the public mind.
I have been calling upon Alabi to lay bare his cv. The basis on which he became a professor in public institution cannot a hidden fact. If Alabi cannot tell us his cv, the two researchers should tell us.
