There may have been ideological and manifesto wars between and among the various political parties in Ghana, but ever since the adoption of the national 40-yr development plan, the line has been clear: there is only one development agenda. The parties have to submit their concrete programs for realizing the goals spelled in the plan. Tarzan is right. There is no need for them (parties) to bore the electorate with ideological manifestos.

Dr Charles Wereko Brobby is indeed an intellectual who unlike those who gain their PHDs from unaccredited Universities make sense and it tells in his writings.Of course the battle of ideologies is now blurred since the battle ground had shifted to the middle-left to center and right to center- ideological battles.
Even in the older democracies the line is tenuous and pure ideology makes little sense now a days.So each ideology borrows from the other camp to facilitate development if it is in the broader interest of the people.
Ideology is merely philosophical isn't it.In democracies left and right political parties may agree on policies but differ on implementation. That is where ideology comes in, whereas the market ideologues right, believe in cuts as an economic remedy, the social democrats left would have gone for growth through government investments the Keynesian way.
The aims ad objectives may be same but the method to achieve those aims and objectives will always be fought on ideological grounds and here there is hardly any compromise whether Ghana or elsewhere.
