If some Northerners felt marginalized it could not have been the brain child of Asantes, or, by extension, the UP tradition ( of which Asante or Akan are the dominant elements) as some idiots would want us to believe. Of the 59 or so years after independence, the PP and NPP which were direct extractions of the UP Tradition - under Busia and Kuffour respectively have had only 11 years chance to rule. Kwame Nkrumah had 9 years, Limon had little over two years, Rawlings had some 11 years as a military ruler, and 8 solid years as an elected president. Mahara and ' Mills' are now in their 8th year. And of all these rulers Northerners did, and are still enjoying their perfect share of the National cake. Which part of the Nation did not benefit from Kuffour social interventions which even extended to the cousins of Northerners and Trokosis in Burkina and Togo. And which part of Ghana enjoy free SADA monies apart from the North. Asantes do shoe-shine to pay school fees whilst the LAZY Savanna dwellers enjoys free education. Yet some buffoons will not leave Asantes and the NPP alone. Nonsense. If there is any group of persons being marginalized in Ghana today, the it is no other persons than the people of Ashanti who God has richly blessed.

To make his error even more grievous, he mischievously assumes everybody from these three regions is a relative of President Mahama hence his accusation of nepotism.

James you are the one being ethno-centric without being scientific. Admiring or hating the good old professor is not the issue here. The only thing to do is to disprove the professor’s assertion, then you can be seen to be making “more” scientific statements.
1. Prof Adei made “huge” corruption allegations against members of parliament. So what’s wrong with that? Haven’t you read anything on the people of Ghana’s perception of the “police, government, MPs. Teachers” anywhere?
2. Professor Adei never said 25% were from the 3 Northern regions. He said they were Northerners. There are perhaps more northerners outside than inside the 3 Northern regions. Come to Accra and go to Nima; go to Aboabo in Kumasi. So if someone is of northern extraction does he lose his “northerness” because he does not physically reside in the north? Adding up the northern staff one can easily see that they are over-represented in Mahama’s government. Go and add them up and stop these tribalistic statements.
3. You are talking of 3 regions out of 10 regions. Smart guy. Maybe to develop the north we should divide the 3 again into say 30. Then the ratio will be higher, and the “30” northern regions will get a much, much bigger chunk. There are more people on Kumasi than in the Upper East. The number in Kumasi include many Northerners. You are so disingenuous to use number of regions instead of number of people.
4. Now you move to your obvious target, Kuffour. Prof Adei can be asked about extending his “research” to Kuffour, but then he will have to go back to JJ, then PNDC, then SMC, NLC, Nkrumah … This statement was about the CURRENT government.
5. What has the venue, location or city of this announcement got to do with the announcement itself? If it was made in Bolga would you have not complained? By the way the forum was in ACCRA, so check your facts well and stop your stoking of tribal fires.
6. There are many, many northerners outside the 3 regions. To develop the north we could start by encouraging the northern elite to go home and lead change. Now they are mostly in Accra and managing from there.
7. EVERY Ghanaian government since colonial days has given northerners MORE than their fair share of the pie. A fair share is regarding all people as equal, not all regions as equal. People living in all the regions are not statistics. They all ache, eat, work and feel human. It is this thing of developing the north that has made some northerners feel like they are entitled to more because they are deprived. There are many deprived areas in other parts of Ghana.
8. The northern elite like you James, are the bane of the north. Remember SADA? And the many, many, many initiatives that went straight to the pocket of the northern big shots? SADA epitomizes the northern elite complicity in the “deprivation” of the north.

It's only useful idiots like you who will support such a reckless, irresponsible and barbaric loose talk.
For well over four years under President Kufour no single person got appointed as a substantive minister form the upper west region. And the time President Kufour told us there was no qualified person from the region. Meanwhile, there were people from the Upper West who were even more qualified and more competent than he President Kufour. I am not surprised that people like you are defending the indefensible. I am not surprised because neither you nor Prof. Adei and all those who think like you have no sense of shame. But that is understandable.
Your rebut attempt is cheap and emotional.
The facts : The forum was at British Council hall in Accra not Kumasi. Dont throw dust into our eyes eh!
There is only one Asante in the Mahama cabinet of 19. Chec population of Asante against the three Northern regions and the number of ministers. There are in all 10 Regional Coordinators in Ghana. . 8 of them are from the North . There are only, 4 indigenous Asantes in the 250 Ghana medical students on Cuban scholarship. More than 150 are from the North.------------ There was no Asante in the 100 students on oil/gas scholarship to Norway. Chec the military/ Police/ Civil Service / Parastatal High Commands. Dont bring yourself ... the Dy Ministers, the Presidential staffers etc. we know their numbers. We can list them. If they're competent, is that evident? Poor management, misrule, stagnation, dissipation, thievery from the North...... , ------------------- We are not small boys. We see the open discrimination. I am Voltarian but I see the discrimination against Asantes. We are all one. We must coexist. Avoka & his bigots cant suppress & intimidate anybody.
You mentioned Kufuor nepotism examples in 8 years. But Kufuor was criticised aggressively by Northerners , Ewes and others . Those who criticised Kufuor, have they critisised Mills/ Mahama who have repeated the bad thing Kufuor did?
Rawlings did it for 19 years Kufuor did it 8 years. Mills/ Mahama have done it for 8 years. So when should it stop.? So Adei must keep quite because Kufuor did it? Your position is parochial and it does not help Ghana. I am in love with Adei for starting the crusade against tribalism.
I wont condemn Adei. I will condemn you rather, Avoka for simply seeking unhelpful equalization .

Fascism has raised it ugly head in Ghana. Fascism just like religion does not respect the dignity of the human person. The problems of this world are from those who are of the view that they are better than others, not in terms of material and intellectual wealth, but because they belong to some tribe, group of people and in that a political party.
The feel that though they are animals like all of us yet they see us as animals none beings, where they are the beings. These people scheme to deprive you of the job you are entitled to, deprive you of living, even will march into your house and usurp your property because they are of the view that you are not a being and does not deserve what you work for. Why does Professor Adei act with such petty behaviour of not an intellectual, but a highway man.
In education some of us have not got to the Phd. level, but do not envy anyone with his position or financial status. I am content with what I have. I likewise do not see others as not fit to live and to work at the position they are given. There are thousands of Ghanaians from all the tribes with the educational qualification of Adei.

But one thing I thank God for is that, they can not take away out wisdom and knowledge. We are naturally talented. I pity those our brothers and sister who are being used used by these ungrateful tribal bigots. Look at a person.like Bawumia. A big disgrace to the whole of the north. Was he asleep then, that was why he did not realise the kind of discrimination the north suffered interms appointments made under former President Kufour? For putting out such trash in to the public by so called Prof, it's a shame. Just to incite Akans against northerners because in their minds, feelings, and talks we're unfit to be Presidents. We need this kind of intellectual discourse instead of the usual, premature, uninformed and sentimental comments based on ethnic prejudice and politico-tribal stance. If anything at all, Akans are dominant in the Mahama Administration . Appiah Denkyira, the Director general of Ghana Health Service who is pursuing and sacking northerners and ewes on tribal and political grounds is not a northerner. Indeed most high profile public appointments including ministerial positions have not in any way favored northerners. What we should be scrutinizing is the ability and capacity of appointees to perform effectively and efficiently, not ethnicity. I have been an ardent critic of the Mahama Government on grounds of non-performance by public and government officials devoid of tribal ties. The learned professor is obviously confused and have got it all wrong. Kudos to my brother for this incisive and impartial article.

I have a serious problem with the grave hypocrisy of our intellectuals especially those aligned to the NPP.Their hypocrisy is so loud that I sometimes I wonder if they actually have conscience.
They think they are the elite of our society but majority are so arrogantly greedy to the point that they sound as if they alone should enjoy good life.
I live and work amongst them and sometimes when I hear them speak I wonder if they think they alone have brain in their heads.
It is this greedy arrogance that is in their gene that makes them unattractive to the broad masses of Ghanaians. Kwame Nkrumah's Ghana has no place for such greedy brats. The only benefit Ghana can derive from the NPP is to keep them perpetually in opposition. Because they are loud mouthed and do not see any good in others except themselves alone. Sadly if you give them power, sorry for the nation.

They do not want the people from the 5 so-called resource-poor regions to have anything else do with ruling in Ghana because they are second-class citizens. This is what Nana Addo's desperation to rule Ghana is all about- to establish this Ashanti-Akyem hegemonic control over the country.
