Four months in prison is enough but I would have asked for a year or more and be made to sign a bond of good behaviour after jail for 20 years. Yes, some NPP political gurus were able to go away with some idiotic statements that create tribal hatred. How long can we tolerate this? It is time to say it is enough. Judges need to be tougher on people who spew garbage on the airwaves. I am not calling for a police state in Ghana but people who for example insult the president or the former presidents and aspiring ones for no reason should be made to have a stay at the prison for at least a month. Those who call for tribal wars should be in prison for 3 years without the option of a fine. Then, they will learn sense.

Whilst NDC lawyers openly pleaded for Sir John and Sammy Awuku to be forgiven for insulting and denigrating Supreme Court justices during the election petition, we are today seeing the opposite where the NPP and their surrogates are asking for stiff punishments, and are also desperately trying to use Communist Inferior Tactics of threats and legal gymnastics to prevent the president from exercising his prerogative of mercy if he wished to do so. The politics does not favour him. When it comes to the tenets underpinning our democracy, which is the rule of law, it is a grand negative. When it comes to abuse of presidential power as to be described as dictatorial, it is a screaming unmitigated disaster of profound proportions. We can go on and on.
At the core of this problem for the NDC party and gov't is their inability to face the truth and like the ostrich, keep their head buried in the sand. John Dramani Mahama is by far the most unelectable incumbent Presidential candidate in over half a century in this country and that is the problem the NDC party and gov't needs to fix after they leave office in December instead of trying to wriggle itself out of their own, again, self-inflicted woes in this catch 22 scenario. If the same statement "Mahama's own funeral" were to be said about a supreme court judge, he would been hauled before the Judges who assume the position of ivestigator, prosecutor and a judge in their own case and subsequently jailed. Sir John former NPP General Secretary said the Supreme Court Judges should prepare their own coffin but as freed. How difference is that from what was said on Montie FM? One day we will all appear before the Overall Judge in heaven to answer for our misdeeds on earth devoid of political consideration. God save Ghana.
