Afterall, if Mahama's administration constructed a road network, the funding did not come from Mahama's personal bank accounts. It was part of any government's responsibility to do so,using PUBLIC FUNDS, and in the case of Mahama's administration, using a BLOATED budget anyway.

That is very wrong and indicting of those folks' democratic credentials. Given that no Chief is supposed to claim membership of any Political Party, according to our Constitution, it makes no sense that many would expect the King to declare his support for either the NPP or the NDC, or any other Party.
But I guess those folks who are angry and disrespectful to the Otumfuor because they believe he is in bed with the NDC are drawing on our History to the time that the majority, if not all, of Asante Chiefs were supposedly behind the UP/NLM's Opposition to Dr. Nkrumah and their demand for Federalism, and later, for secession from Ghana.
Those days are long gone. And since Prempeh II, no such bona fide patronage of the King to the UP/NLM incarnations has to be expected, despite occasional overt encouragement of the Kings to those Parties.
Not even the perception that the NPP is an Akan-dominated Party assigns to the Party an automatic support from the King of Ashanti. And in the case of the incumbent King, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, he has shown to be even more neutral and comfortable with his non-alignment to any Party.
It may be hard to take by those Ashanti natives who would rather have the King declare his unflinching, unequivocal support for NPP. But such is life and they would have to deal with the realities of modern Ghana, and real Democracy.
