We cannot expect peace if we ignore the combustible ingredients in our society. Most violence or revolutions come about when citizens perceive that the system is unfair or rigged against them. Especially when the youth does not see a future, they can easily be incited to violence.
If we want peace then we must work for an economy that can give our youth employment and a good social net for the weak in our country. We must create and support institutions that are perceived to be fair and just - An EC, Judiciary and security institutions , Paliament and Presidency which inspire the confidence of citizens. And those cying for peace as if there is going to be a war due to the impending election must stop the hypocrisy and focus on preaching against corruption of politicians in power or who seek power; speak and support stronger governance institutions and an economy that encourage local production and wealth creation which give hope to our youth.
And for the fear industry in Ghana, I have news for them. A win or loss of an election is not what will disturb the peace but an ideology of "them versus us" or "haves and have nots. " We must do our best not to incubate such mind set in our youth else we will hear " give me death or liberty" !!!
And our prayers will come to naught
"No Justice No Peace" indeed.!!!!!!
