Good article Doc. My difficulty however is why Abu Ramadan failed to sue the EC for the contempt he was making noise about. A directive was issued. I understand it this way, your understanding is the other way. What do we do? We go back to the court for clarification. It is not about shouting on TV AND RADIO stations about CONTEMPT. He must be serious and take we Ghanaians not for a joke.

That too many people, including those in the media, are insincere, and very often, needlessly focused on WHO is right[scoring cheap political points, hence the 'noise' we hear on our public airwaves]; rather than concentrating or determining what is right[the Ghana first] aspect of any particular issue.
And notwithstanding Charlie's kind words directed at the litigants and their attorney, the very clear efforts, on the part of certain persons and groups, to undermine[run down] state institutions cannot be ignored! Why would anybody trumpet the notion of "CONTEMPT", and strenuously seek to justify that claim or position, if they were genuinely guided by what is good for this nation? The excessive public grandstanding by self-proclaimed 'patriots', is what is slowly edging this peaceful country towards the brink of disaster!

It is clear from the law that though people used nhis cards to register and vote in 2012, it was later discovered that, that particular nhis cards were not limited to only Ghanaians but foreigners also could have found their names in the voters register because of nhis cards.
Come 2014-2016, and we are told by the supreme court that a case was brought by Abu Ramadan seeking the removal of nhis because of the setback stated above. His position was upheld resulting in Article 91 which clearly removed nhis as one of the criteria for voting qualification.
Abu and Nimako took the Electoral Commission to the supreme court for an interpretation of the Article 91 and the supreme court stated in black and white that all those who do not qualify under Article 91 as a result of using a previous correct but now wrong criteria should be removed from the voters register and given the option to register again provided they satisfy Article 91. This simple English too who do you expect to translate it to you the Electoral Commission if you do not have any bad intention?

Just like NHIS cards, drivers license are also used and obtainable by foreigners. The SC then shd have rules that only a National ID, passport or an existing voter id be used.

We are no lawyers!
1. We believe, however, that the Supreme Court was way over-board with "...the Electoral Commission takes steps immediately to delete or as is popularly known ‘clean” the current register of voters to comply..."
It reads like a Court playing politics, a court trying to also "administrate". It takes resources, time, and prioritization to accomplish "executive" actions and objectives.
Will the Court also decree how much resources should be given to the EC, when?
For that and other reasons, we believe that Mr. Charles Wereko Brobbey (Tarzan)'s quest for "...What...processes under the applicable laws of Ghana it wants the EC to adopt to delete the names of ineligible persons from the electoral register...", ought to naturally be a super difficult one for the Court, if the Court is sufficiently reflective.
That, we submit, is an Executive domain item, not Judicial. (However, this is not to say that the Court cannot them review the results).
2. Courts should not use street language, even if enclosed by quotation marks, unless they also provide sound scientific, intellectually-bounded language to balance the "street talk". "Clean" is a lot more in the eye of the beholder, compared with such concepts as "validity" (and reliability, etc.). The latter provide more objective ways to evaluate the data.
Thanks, Tarzan, and to your "counselors", for your effort on this important matter.
We recognize them as Ghana-Centered, to the core.
Peace!

NPP has been looking for ways to cause war in the country. They have made their intentions well known, including their actions and stance on non-issues. Now, they have a good reason to reject the results if they don't win. I partly agree with them on this, though, not the violence.
The register is indeed full of foreigners which should never be the cause. However, deleting all the names and doing a new one is even going to be worse than the current one. The reason is that we still don't have a means of knowing who is a citizen of Ghana. Therefore, we can't prevent foreigners flocking into Ghana to register to vote.
It is sad that a mere national ID card we don't want to do it. If we make a national ID card with a national database, the issue with nationality would be gone forever.
This solution is very easy and cheap than the blood we are about to shed in Dec. I volunteer to do the database for free if the government will provide the necessary resources. In fact, we don't need voter ID cards, we just need a national ID card. The resources they used to register the voters could be used to do the national ID cards. This is for all purpose not just for voting.
Africans always create misery for themselves: not the white man. The solution is there, instead, they are going to court, court, court. Is this stupidity or a curse?
Beware, I have no allegiance to any political party. Political parties are poison.

Yes we should all applaud these guys but why is the EC finding it difficult to delete these names and giving them the opportunity to register with a proper I.D. card, the question of these people being disenfranchised is neither here nor there. Secondly who is the EC trying to protect because no party can claim to know if their supporters will be the ones to be disadvantaged except the EC has an agenda and so playing all this antics about the true interpretation of the previous ruling.EC should treat Ghanaians with respect since the whole world is watching us.

Well said but I think that from now on the Supreme Court must remember in its ruling that there're more illitrates in Ghana than the so called educated and that they represent majority who for the uneducated blog of our country's population in all sectors.I think they did a big blow to the country by giving a ruling that could not be understood by lawyers including the number of them working at the EC as chairmen, starting from this case they should break the English down to the level of JHS level or even ferder down so this unnecessary wast of time and popularity seeking by the Supreme Court stop.Tarzan should also learn to be a team player and stop the unnecessary criticism and insult of a party that gave him so much to be proud of,we wrote same way in defense of him when the NDC tried to vilify he and Kojo Npiani by taking them to court on ghana@50,but unfortunately anytime there's an issue in the party position against the government he slams the party giving the NDC the right to use him as references to ridicule the Npp,as against the NDC who ll defend everything from a serial caller to the corrupt president. No matter how stupid Tarzan sees the members of the Npp they re the numbers that gave him the opportunity to serve in various capacities in government, why is he not in office as the NDC rule?so he should be measured in his attacks of the party and rather offer advise without seeking credit from the general public, otherwise why should lawyers accept a case knowing clearly that there's no way they can win such a case in court?if propaganda is part of politics then why should anybody be a problem when it's adopted for that purpose?he should remember the NDC has a propaganda desk till date.

This Dr has always in the past sopported the NDC and Mahama by defending them whether they are right or wrong. He has forgotten that it was an npp government that enebled him to amass wealth during president Kuffour's time. He probably fears the NDC and Mahama may drag him back to court despite his exoneration by the judges. Be realistic because ordinary Ghanaians are suffering under Mahama.
