Those of us who are familiar with you and your work here on Ghanaweb, etc., also know you have a lot there that you have not exposed to the reading public yet!
Of course, there are people who have been writing similarly but obviously lack the high sense of numerical analytics you bring to bear on your insightful commentaries.
Bravo for an excellent work done.

These assholes sit far away in foreign lands, drink the best liquor and tea. They have nothing better to do than pontificate decades old political rivalries.I do not claim to be anywhere near their standard of education. There is a real crisis going on in Ghana in terms of poverty, lack of good education, lack of good health care among other problems too numerous to mention here.Instead of using their education(financed by the poor farmers , fishermen and workers of Ghana)to help find solutions to our problems, all they do is indulge in political masturbation to outdo each other on both sides of the political equation. We all thought when J.J.Rawlings came on the scene he was going to discredit these unproductive political ideologies and concentrate on improving the conditions in Ghana but he blew it.As I said somewhere in this article I am not highly educated academically(a mere standard 7 educated) like those who are always at each other's throat, they should stop the blame game and help find solutions to our problems.Stop the ACADEMIC and POLITICAL MASTURBATION. But Kwame Nkrumah did, in less than 10 years at the helm, in 1963.
Kwame Nkrumah had a sense for all those linkages, the critical mind he was."
Funny.
Nkrumah ideas represented a copycat of what had already happened in other great jurisdictions elsewhere across the globe. Building the Tema harbor, the Akosombo dam .....etc, was not new in those days after the Great Industrial Revolution era of the Western World which began in Britain around 1700 - so many 'light years' before Fuhrer Nkrumah was born. The only thing new about what Nkrumah did in his time was that, it took no other person than an Afrocentric black person - who was trained by these same white folks he sought to hate that much - to copycat what was happening in Singapore, Japan, ........ What was so brilliant about what anybody who had an idea about the world in those days could do. For me, what is more visionary is when Kuffour used Prophet Bawumia and his team to redenominate the cedi currency, which made Ghana a gateway to doing business in Africa. It was also brilliant when Kuffour use KT Hammond and co to work hard to find oil for Ghana. Pregnant women now enjoy the liberties of free maternal/health in this country. School children for first given free food to eat even when Ghana was under HPIC. That is what we call innovative and visionary leadership.
I can bet my last buttom pesewa for Nana will surely give our SHS people the free education they deserve. There will be no more room for loot and share.
Nkrumah did not manufacture any brilliant idea on his own except that he was just a master of copycat. He is just a hero to shallow minded people like Lungu who is Senselessly attacking our elders, 60 year olds, for no practical reason.

Isn't it ironic that, they hastily compare Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah to other world leaders when it suits them but, fail to do same when brutalities related to those they compare Osagefo to are involved. Lee Kwaw Yuan is a great figure in Singapore, no doubt about that but, did he achieve that feat with soft hands?. Absolutely not, for those who always castigate Osagyefo and his CPP for the PDA can do themselves some good by reading about the great Singapore leader bit by bit and they will appreciate the fact that, to achieve cohesion and development for a nation, they demand some level of hard decisions especially when some rascal elements are bent on usurping power to please some foreign masters.
Interestingly, these same latter day anti Nkrumah conveniently write so much to discredit their partisan political gods in some of their books, Sounds of Siren is one example. Maybe, they do so because they definitely knew academia will reject their thesis that bode on falsehoods and complete malice. Here, at Ghanaweb, they spew their complete ignorance because they are at liberty to do so as they knew their articles will escape intellectual microscopic glasses.
We are not in any position to condemn any of the falsehood churned out here but, will be quick to shoot it down when they (articles) are at war with common sense and facts.
Thank you.

You can quack all you want like a duck, and bleat all you want like a goat, but there are three main corollaries that underlie the Ghana/Singapore discourse:
1) The shrewd Lee Kwan Yew kept himself in power amidst strong opposition at home, just like Dr. Nkrumah, and prevailed upon his enemies to transform his country from a third world to first world country. This is a fact.
2) After the expulsion from the Malaysia Federation, Lee Kwan Yew declared Singapore independent on August 9, 1965 and quickly aligned himself with the Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, South Korea,Taiwan), thus Singapore becoming the fourth Tiger. By aligning himself with the Tigers, Lee learned from other three Tigers and transformed the marshy land of Singapore into a rapid industrialization, specializing in areas of competitive advantage. Modeling Singapore after Hong Kong, the two countries have become world-leading international financial centres, whereas South Korea and Taiwan are world leaders in manufacturing information technology. Singapore was not industrialized in 1965 as Lungu would have you believe. It was completely a marshy land and nowhere near the resources Ghana is endowed with. This is how Lee transformed his country in only 25 years: a) he maintained export-led regimes (entrepot market), low taxes to attract foreign investments, state intervention and repression of the financial sector, such as state imposed below market interest rates for loans to specific exporting industries, free trade with the Tigers, and less government spending, major government investment in education and non-democratic and authoritarian political system.
3) Like Dr. Nkrumah, Lee Kwan Yew had a conviction of purpose to develop his country, but while Nkrumah dabbled in continental aspiration to unite Africa into a continental government using Ghana's financial resources, and also spent time needless outside Ghana putting out fires overseas, the astute Lee Kwan Yew spent valuable time in his country masterminding the economic miracle of the century. And that is why, today, Singapore boasts of income per capita $38,000 and Ghana at a mere $1,500. You be the judge.
But here is the question: Why do CPP apparatchiks like this Lungu guy want to stifle debates about Dr. Nkrumah's administration? There is no denying that Dr. Nkrumah was selfless in pursuit of the development of the country. Dr. Nkrumah is in the league of his own for his aspiration for the country, but was he above criticism? The CPP once the dominant party in Ghana's political system is now rump and insignificant in Ghana politics because of people like Lungu - close minded and nonintellectual. To have a person like Lungu as a spokesperson for Dr. Nkrumah's illustrious contribution to our country, is not only a tragedy but obtuse to say the least.

Comment to: Only mad 60-year olds fault Kwame Nkrumah for Ghan
Lee Kuan Yew, was more brutal to his detractors than Nkrumah. He did not only jailed them without trial he made sure they were bankrupted as well. This is something that eludes the "Nkrumah Bashers" such as Kwabena Yeboah. That said, Lee Kuan Yew, did not have "Apartheid" looming on his doorstep. Most of the Asian countries such as Indonesia,Sri Lanka etc had achieved their independence when LKY came onto the scene. Nkrumah, had to help others to achieve their independence.
Lee Kuan Yew, had a one party state for 30 uninterrupted years. Nkrumah"s so-called one party state lasted from 1964-1966. In other words, less than 26 months. Yes, he jailed the "Isis" minded detractors and terrorists such as JB Traitor Danquah. Lee Kuan Yew, did far worse to the nation wreckers.
I will leave these quotes from Lee Kuan Yew for Kwabena Yeboah to peruse.
“Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine. I’ve spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I’m in charge, nobody is going to knock it down.”
On Americans’ view of Singapore: “They don’t know where Singapore is, they are not interested. They think of only Michael Fay, then maybe caning, chewing gum… strange odd place this Singapore”.
“Amazingly, throughout most of the contemporary Western world leaders in government require no special training or qualification. Many get elected because they sound and look good on television. The results have been unhappy for their voters.”
“I always tried to be correct, not politically correct"
If Singapore is a nanny state, then I am proud to have fostered one.
“I have never been over concerned or obsessed with opinion polls or popularity polls. I think a leader who is, is a weak leader. Between being loved and being feared, I have always believed Machiavelli was right. If nobody is afraid of me, I’m meaningless.
“I have never been over concerned or obsessed with opinion polls or popularity polls. I think a leader who is, is a weak leader. Between being loved and being feared, I have always believed Machiavelli was right. If nobody is afraid of me, I’m meaningless.
“What are our priorities? First, the welfare, the survival of the people. Then, democratic norms and processes which from time to time we have to suspend.”
I make no apologies that the PAP is the Government and the Government is the PAP.
On justice:
"We have to lock up people, without trial, whether they are communists, whether they are language chauvinists, whether they are religious extremists. If you don't do that, the country would be in ruins."
As a rationalist, Nkrumah took up the offer when the "soviets" offered to train our doctors for a pittance. They did the same to Cuba. Now Cuba earns more money in exporting medical doctors around the globe in one year than all our cocoa and gold exports.
Kwabena Yeboah, should bear in mind that criticizing Lee Kuan Yew,even after his death in Singapore lands you in Jail. Enough of these Nkrumah Bashers!

My brother Yaw, if you cared to use your brains a little bit, you will find that nation building is not for chickens. The Americans went into civil war and killed thousands of their citizens before creating the USA. Lee Kwan Yew understood this perfectly well and kept himself in power until his mission was complete. In nation building, the end always justifies the means. You should learn from this.
Have you been to Singapore before? Oh I see!!! Singapore is the cleanest city in the world, it is not a pig's pen like Ghana, all because of the vision of one man, thus Lee Kwan Yew. It also has more millionaires per capita in the world to boot. Go figure, Yaw.

Writing a constitution that says "All men were created equal" in 1788 and then continuing to enslave some section of the same society then going to war over it does not make sense to me. It tells you more about US hypocrisy. Sadly, you fail to see/understand that.
Yes, I was in Singapore in 1987. His vision was no different from that of Nkrumah. He used brute force and treated the "JB Traitor Danquah"s within their midst harsher than Nkrumah.
Give us a break over "copy and paste" nonsense! even our constitution is full of copy and paste stuff. There is absolutely nothing original about our Ghanaian Constitution. Writing papers for the likes of Amoako Baah, Adjei Sarfo or Okoampa etc to review is of as much use to me as a Soluble Drainpipe! When Ann San Su Kyi, faced the wrath of the Burmese generals, she did not jump to a foreign power to come and do her bidding, she toughed it out!
When Ferdinand Marcos, unleashed the army on the defenceless people in the Phillipines, they did not beg the French or the British to come to their rescue. Nuns greeted the soldiers with flowers and eventually toppled him. JB Traitor Danquah and his bomb throwers did more harm to us than Nkrumah. Finally, When the US government refused Nasser of Egypt, a modest loan of 70 million dollars to build the Aswan Dam, he turned to the soviets and the result, A one billion Aswan Dam which has been the backbone of Egypt industry since it was completed. If that made Nasser a communist as the "Hypocritical" Americans branded him so be it! Let me make it clear to you that you do not hold monopoly on insults!

Keep on playing your tune to yourself.
Why rehash what we've already covered in Part 1 and II of this series.
So, who is copying and pasting?
In this paper, we've shown that in fact Ghana, under Nkrumah, could as well have been considered a Tiger in the making, but for sabotage by the Johnson CIA and Ghanaians who took up their "mantle".
So, tell us specifically what you have to say about that.
Tell us and quit blaming Nkrumah for the mistakes of 60-year MEN and their friends, and a sorry traitor bunch.
What does Nkrumah have to do with what happened in Ghana 5 years, 20 year, 40 years, 60 years, after that sabotage?
READ YOU: "...After the expulsion from the Malaysia Federation, Lee Kwan Yew declared Singapore independent on August 9, 1965 and quickly aligned himself with the Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, South Korea,Taiwan), thus Singapore becoming the fourth Tiger..."
Bull crap!
Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown a mere 5 months after August to 1965, stupid!
What is your point?
Or, you must actually believe in that Rip Van Wrinkle story.
In addition, you are also saying when Singapore joined the "Tigers" in 1965, Singapore was a "Tiger" already.
Which is preposterous!
ITEM: What the Tigers did was exactly what Nkrumah attempted to do for Ghana: Consider, but flatly ignore that neo-classical bent to allow unfettered capitalism, on the one hand, and unrestrained freedoms, on the other.
Nkrumah failed because he was overthrown by international powers who did not give a hoot about Ghanaians and their children.
Stop making things up, and copying.
Where in our paper do we say Singapore was industrialized in 1965?
Or, are you confused about the data, that Singapore's GDP per capita was a lot higher than Ghana when they both started, that Nkrumah achieved greater rise in GDP for Ghana during 1963-1965, that he was overthrown in Feb, 1966?
But oh, it is people like you who never have data or true facts, to prove their point.
What exactly is your beef, Kwabena Yeboah?
Sure, "criticise" Nkrumah, but when you do, don't ignore to bring your data to the Table. Do not merely re-cycle coup-plotter narratives.
So yes, the "The CPP (was) once the dominant party in Ghana's political system", until they were overthrown by a traitor bunch we are now sensing you have a peculiar affinity for.
After all, you have been issuing free tickets "for a long time", as you covered the last time.
Try harder, and come back again.
Quit hiding behind a contract you have already broken, if we are to believe even 20% of what you tell us.
Peace!

The lack of Sound Economic Foundation and the political choices he made are your answers.
Nkrumah had no economic strategy to attract foreign investors. Ghana's tax structure which was the bait to attract foreign investors was non-existent, and is still the case today. Transfer of wealth from one country to another is through foreign trade. While Lee Kwan Yew maintained export-led regime with the rest of the world, Nkrumah shut the door on exports and instead introduced import substitution as his economic policy. Look at Ghana's tax structure, the main source of every civilized government's revenue. Nkrumah himself never paid taxes as far as we know. While Lee Kwan Yew structured Singapore's tax regime and used it to bait investors around the world, there was no such approach in Nkrumah's administration, and Ghana is still losing millions in revenue leakage. Had Nkrumah set the tone for taxation, how could Rawlings have enshrined it in Ghana's constitution that Presidents are exempt from paying taxes. Apart from civil servants and importers who pay taxes at source, Ghana's tax base is so skewed to a few people in the country even though the country needs tax revenues to develop.
Yes, Nkrumah built the infrastructure, but what was his main objectives? The goal of Lee was to make Singapore a financial hub in the region and he achieved it. But what was Nkrumah's goal?
The last answer is, Lee Kwan Yew was smart enough to figure out that he must maintain his grips on power to finish his objective, and used every means available to achieve this end. He played the West (the winning team) against the East, and that is foresight and good judgment, whereas Nkrumah played the East against the West - a losing proposition and he paid for it.
These are the substantive reasons those of us who are adroit in our thinking that Nkrumah laid the wrong economic foundation for the country and also played the wrong political game in the East/West divide, and we are paying for those mistakes.

You are not intelligent by any stretch of the imagination, and it is difficult to have a meaningful discourse with a person who can't reason beyond infatuation for his idol. Such is the situation in my dear country. The empty barrels always prevail - the blind leading the blind.
Lungu, let cooler heads prevail and deal mainly with the issues:
Issue 1: would you agree that Lee Kwan Yew was astute politically than Nkrumah. He withstood intense opposition at home and outlasted his political opponents, while Nkrumah languished and was overthrown. Doesn't that say a lot about the two leaders? Why did Lee survive the opposition at home and Nkrumah crumbled and fell? This was my first point.
2) While Lee Kwan Yew maintained export-led regime as his economic focal point, capitalizing on his country's competitive advantage (entrepot) industrialization, Nkrumah's trade and economic policy was Import substitution industrialization. Do you know what this means, Lungu? Export-led industrialization vis-a-vis import substitution industrialization. Please Lungu, don't just copy and paste because any high school pupil can do what you are feeding the public on Ghanaweb. You should be able to explain to your CPP apparatchiks why Nkrumah's economic policy was a recipe for disaster. And please stop blaming the CIA because the economy was in dire straight. This was my second point.
My third point was that, while Nkrumah dabbled in his obsession to form one African government, and used Ghana's much needed financial resources to achieve this goal, and globe trotted around the world putting out fires in the world's hot places, the astute Lee Kwan Yew kept a low profile on the East/West divide to build his country from a tiny marshy third world country to first world. The last time I checked, income per capita in Singapore was a whopping $38,000 and and still climbing, whereas Ghana is just a puny $1,500. There are many millionaires in Singapore per capita than anywhere else on the globe.
Cool down, Lungu and let's debate the issues and we can learn from Nkrumah's mistakes. Don't try to stifle discussions about Nkrumah, it s not only foolish, it is backward and undemocratic. Nkrumah was not infallible given the fact that he was a trailblazer, and all trailblazers make mistakes. Give it up, Lungu and let us have a healthy discourse about Dr. Nkrumah's strengths and weaknesses. Only closed minded dunderheads believe Nkrumah was without fault.

The wise man once said and I quote: "Anything that hurts you can teach you, and if it keeps hurting you, it's because you have not learned."
People like you who stifle debates about Dr. Nkrumah's government are enemies of the country, and in fact, obstructionists who should not be allowed to lead any national discourse. The question we all should ask ourselves is, how come CPP, a party of that won two elections hands down with huge majority has been reduced to a rump spectacle in Ghana politics. It is because of people like you with reductionistic approach to complex issues. Nkrumah was selfless in pursuit of his political idealism, and as I have said many times, he has no equals on the continent. No political now or in the past even come close. But does it mean he was efficacious in what he set out to do as a political leader? Nkrumah failed in many fronts - politically and economically.
Where is OAU today? Where is Ghana, Guinea, Mali confederation today? People of Ghana supported the CIA induced coup mainly because of economic hardship at the time. But in spite of all this, I credit him for the tremendous contribution and selfless sacrifice he made for my country, especially his education policy.
