How do you go and borrow money for 10.75% (US dollar) and give it to someone to lend it to you at over 20% (GHC)? In effect you are paying over 30%! Assuming stable exchange rates, Ghana will be paying additional interest of at least $50 million a year on this transaction. It really is reckless. The government is claiming that the funds were “idle”. Really? What does that mean? Why do you borrow funds and pay interest on it if you do not have use for them at the moment? It is clear that the GIIF does not have a portfolio of projects ready to invest in and it is weird to allocate a whopping sum of $250 million to them at this time. Is the Minister aware that the country owes N-Gas some $100 million? What about other contractors who are owed money by the government? How can you owe so much, have so much to do and yet claim to have “idle” borrowed funds? The allocation of such an amount to a private bank also has major macroeconomic consequences for a relatively small economy like Ghana. It increases the deposits of the banking system and ultimately the money supply. It has inflationary and exchange rate depreciation consequences and would make it more difficult for the government to meet its inflation target. I am surprised that the government is oblivious of these consequences. The Funds should stay at the Bank of Ghana. After all the Bank of Ghana, on its own or through its external fund managers of the caliber of internationally reputable banks like UBS, JP Morgan, Citibank, Merrill Lynch etc. can undertake whatever investment of the country’s foreign exchange that the government would like it to undertake

The bank, which is UBA in turn, decides to buy GHS 950 million of government Treasury bills at a rate of 24% (using the 1-year note); the bank would have made a hefty GHS 233 (USD 61) million profit in nominal terms just by loaning this same money to the government. Friends in the media, if this is not a 419 scam visited on unsuspecting Ghanaians by President Mahama, then what else is it? – Meanwhile, this is a President who is walking freely on the streets of London shamelessly mocking Ghanaians that he has never taken bribe, my goodness!!! Note therefore, that Government is paying 10.75% 24% which is 34.75% interest on the money he borrowed from the capital market. Government is paying 24% interest on his own money to a private firm. Is this sheer wickedness, foolishness, witchcraft or what? We cannot help, but agree with Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings when she posited few days ago and I quote, “If you borrow money at a high interest rate to lend it to another at a low interest rate then borrow your own money back from them at a high interest rate, you are either not wise, a thief or both. No wonder their campaign message of “vote for us so they don’t jail us, it’s time to save Ghana from this criminality”. What he is proposing is not a sustainable approach. Rawlings in the late 70s and 80s even killed people for corruption but we still have it like never before.

He has the capacity and knowledge to advice, discipline and cuddles all his family as “Hen brood over chicken”. When a duck broods over chicken eggs and hatches them it treats the chicken as its own. When a hen also brood over duck eggs till hatch time it also treats the little ducks as its own. This is so with many brooders and naturally it is beautiful and awesome. This natural coexistence brings about peace and harmony in the sharing of food and water as well as sleeping under the same wing of a parent. The little ones get life advice under roof of their parents and you always see them together playing, eating, drinking water and sleeping at the same time.
The irresponsible Hen leaves its kids at the mercy of predators for selfishness sake and like the irresponsible parent who would hypocritically reprimand his kids in public whilst secretly; he fuels them behind the scenes to misbehave in public.
The dogs, cats, pigs and many four leg animals, they strictly loves their own at birth and will treat anyone else as an alien in their mist; they will extend this differentiation sometimes to their owner unless it is for food. They will fight even their own when it comes to sharing of food and sleeping space; they don’t have any schedules in their pattern of life; each of them will do anything at any time. It also takes them a very long time to make friends among themselves and other creatures in their environs. Their kind of friendship does not last as it is often characterised by mischief and mistrust.
This is a fact of life about some humans also. They love their own like “h3n Akanfo oo” “Obia de3 mienu mienu” “at all cost “all die be die” very desperate at anything even when the liberties has been well defined. Like the cat they will always run away with fish even when you have freely offered it.
From his demeanour, family background, utterances, actions and inactions it is becoming more obvious who Nana Addo Dankwa Akkufo Addo aka “Odikro of no town” whose futile and nonsensical evidence presented to the great court of the land, champion by his “HIP POP LIAR Political Economist” Dr. Bawumia to deprive millions of Ghanaians a true choice is gradually becoming known to all.
It was by his actions that sent a grey signal to stakeholders of this country and scared majority of businesses especially the multi nationals and some local entrepreneurs to withhold their vibrant activities due to widespread of war mongering and collateral damage meted out to life and properties (especially when one considers the serial market burnings) which was looming in the country all because Nana Addo and his men have lost an election and they are simply refusing to accept defeat; when it was very glare that they have lost.
His great grandfather (JB Danquah) did same to Nkrumah and his father ( Edward Akkufo Addo) followed the same traits, who was later imprisoned and now it is Nana Addo’s turn .
He is leading a campaign of indiscipline and has so far portrayed no decency in mannerism, character or in speech. His proverbial ill character in the use of vile words against his opponents is very abhorring and anti-social. His public speeches are out of date and have no connection with current trends of social developments. .
Unfortunately he is deep into it there is something wrong with the chemical constituents that form the brain of these Dankwas/ Busia’s? Are there no wise men among them? Or did their fathers die with all the sense that will guide them today? Well a decorated monkey remains a monkey; like father like son. None have morals……TO BE CONTINUED…..

Indeed, we have been schooled about one of John Mahama's most corrupt Ministers, to the effect that, when it comes to corruption, it is a common identity the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't and party, shares, it is values they believe in and those corrupt values and common identity needs to be protected with dignity.
Corruption, looting and thievery are principles, the belief system, the core values of the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't and party, and it would be a snowy day in Hell, than to see any fight against corruption, let alone start see it starting from the Presidency.
Actually, as a matter of fact, the Presidency has assumed the status of the "grotto of corruption", with all manner of thieves and looters waltzing in and out, jumping up and down and enjoying a kumbaya moment of brotherliness with all the elements and all manner of everything corrupt, in the Presidency. How can there be any fight therefore starting with the Presidency?
There can and will be no fight under no circumstances in such a situation. There is no way any such fight is ever going to occur or happen.
The only way to fight that corruption is to massively vote the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't of dangerous and reckless looters out, instead of watching for the canonization and institutionalization of that culture of brazen thievery and corruption together with mindless incompetence, that have served to collapse this country.

If you, Prof Adjei, and others care about ending corruption and corrupting practices you would campaign to have our 1992 constitution amended. You cannot minimize corruption that sets up the executive branch of government to be an imperial majesty, have members of parliament operate under the supposition that their paychecks, benefits and perks take priority over all others or a Judiciary full of partisan hacks without morals and or loyalty to Ghana but to political party and expect anyone of those branches of government to not feel entitled to wealth by fair or foul means.
Amend or change the constitution where all three branches of government are co-equal with oversight authority on each other and remove the indemnity clause so no one can enjoy immunity from prosecution and let us see what happens.
