Hmmmm, well done to the Author for writing this interesting article. However, I firmly believe that the late Dr J.B. Danquah, Dr Busia & Dr Nkrumah should all be recognised for the contributions that they made for Ghana. Personally, I believe that the political beliefs of most people evolves over time. For example, J.J. Rawlings initially when he came to power portrayed himself as a Communist and forged close relationships with Fidel Castro, Colonel Gaddafy & Thomas Sankara. However, by the time he was an elected President he forged close relationships with President Clinton and was promoting free-market capitalist policies. Another example, is President Kuffour who served in the Busia Government, the PNDC Government Chaired by J.J. Rawlings before winning two Elections for the NPP.
Personally, I do not think that it is hypocritical for a young Nana Addo to have been a supporter of the CPP. In fact to me it shows to me that he is his own man and his political beliefs have evolved over time. Some comments that I read on Ghanaweb are full of ironies. For example, followers of the UP/NPP, whenever given the opportunity criticise & insult President Nkrumah and his CPP Government as being a Dictator and creating a One Party State. The late Mr Krobo Edusei, was the Minister of State, who introduced the infamous 'Prevention of Detention Act which was used to imprison Dr J.B. Danquah and others. One irony is that when General Acheampong successfully carried out his 1972 Coup which overthrew the Busia Government.
Dr Busia, was assisted to flee into exile by the same former Minister of State, who introduced the 'Prevention of Detention Act. Another irony is Nana Addo whom we are led to believe hates Asante people. This mischievous lie is often claimed on Ghanaweb. The truth is that without the financial support of 3 people of Asante origin he would struggle to finance his Presidential Campaign. Since childhood one of his closest friends has been Mr Yaw Krobo Edusei (Junior), son of the late Politician and a multi-millionaire businessman. Secondly, two Brothers who are waelthy Businessman whom live in Accra but hail from Asante Mampong. The Elder Brother, served as the Private Secretary to Colonel Afrifa who he knew from childhood. It does not take you to be a rocket scientist to work out how initially made his fortune? In 2008, he provided several vehicles from his Car Rental Business for Nana Addo to use to campaign. He lives at Airport Residential area and is also close to President Kuffuor. His Brother, a retired Colonel and former Minister of State in Acheampong's Government owns the large multi-storey building in Spintex Road, Tema, called 'Frema House' which was named after his Mother and where Ghana Energy Commission is based. He also owns the multi-storey building next door that has been sponsored by Whirlpool.
Over several years Nana Addo has benefited from financial support from these wealthy Asante Businessmen.
My former Wife is from Asante Mampong
and is a Niece of the 2 wealthy Brothers and I personally know both of them. Ghana's political history and the current situation is full of ironies.

The persistent efforts by some in the NPP to deny Nana's past dealings and well-documented close association with past CPP hacks like Kofi Batsa and Kofi Hedjor, two individuals, who provided the ideological anchor for the CPP regime[through their extensive writings in the Spark, Gahana's Al-Ahram at the time], as rightly pointed out by Kwarteng. Their persistent denials, not only the magnify the irony Kwarteng points to, but elevates this 'obvious truth' into a heresy in the Ghana we live in today!
