I agree with you that the EC didn't do anything wrong in trying to reposition itself for the future. I disagree on the timing. U ppl make the argument to look like the EC abandoned all other activities to ensure free and fair elections and concentrating on rebranding. The two are not mutually exclusive. The EC has a time table for the elections and so far they are following it. There are some ppl who will never see anything gud in what the EC is doing bcos the EC didn't compile a new register. There's nothing wrong with the timing. Its npp and its surrogates who are twisting issues to suggest EC is doing nothing for election 2016. Am one of those who hate the new EC logo. If u are coming up with a new logo as part of rebranding, that logo must be appealing. This current logo compared to the first is horrible to say the least. But that is what the EC has settled on. I don't see how this new logo is going to affect free, fair and credible elections. There are several state institutions that don't use the coat of arms. VRA, NHIA, Ghana health service, NCA, Ghana water company, GNPC etc all do not have the coat of arms as part of their logos. We can stop all these unnecessary noise and allow the EC space to do its work.

It is a matter of opinion. The EC is made up of commissioners and they all agreed to the change. You cannot be wiser than the EC Board. Of course we cannot agree with everything everybody does. So it is a matter of opinion.

I very much dought if the EC boss is indeed a lawyer,so people who ve the capacity to verify her legal background must not waste time in doing so,if she says in not under the authority of the state, then she should not put up any budget for ghana government to bear and from now in they should buy their own vehicles and build offices for themselves including security. This woman has merchant for rebranding as she did same at NCCE,for her to say the logo was not designed by her husband was an insult to Ghanaians, that's why I think multi media has no business asking countryman songo to apologize in anyway to her,she should know that others ve occupied that sit before ,besides, any time she speaking to Ghanaians, she must remember it includes former presidents and first ladies,a position she may not occupy for the rest of her life.I am yet to hear he apologize for any wrong comments she has made since she took office, her husband if he's wise must coach her how to respect people and command same for herself and her children if any.Can she refuse to pay her children school fees after they sack but buy the books or toys?its a matter of priorith, she has four years after this major test ahead of her to rebrand, consultation is also key in this whole thing, you can not be setting commitees to help you on basic things while taking decision on the juicy ones just for kickbacks, she lacks focus and must be told because Ghanaias deserve some respect being tough and firm is ok, but insults no.

I agree with you on the re branding argument that every institution anff for that matter individual is a brand and therefore one must make effort to keep the brand intack, not destroy it, make it relevant to users and ensure that the brand stays on the minds of the users. Unfortunately, I disagree with you about the coat of arms because there is no where in our constitution where it states that state institutions symbols must carry our coat of arms. Similarly, it does not make it a crime if the coat of arms is not on the EC logo. Could you please remember what Charlotte Osei said? She emphasise that the independence of the institution is her preoccupation hence the EC decided to detach its symbol or logo from the national logo. Can check from other countries what is the logo of their ECs? Take south Africa as an example you will see that their logo is just a ballot box and a piece of paper dropping into the box so simple a design.

For me I disagree with you Mr writer about your argument on the timing of releasing the logo. From marketing point of view, the best time to rebrand the logo is now. Simply because most Ghanaians are curious to know what is happening around the activities of the EC and as such the logo must be used now until the election is over. The cost on advertising the new logo is saved because marketing activities of the EC now will run concurrently with the logo as such no need for additional budget on advertising the logo. Can you see the logic? To say people will raise questions about the EC because of the impending election in the corner therefore the EC should have waited for the the elections to be over will not make any meaning. Those who have problems with EC most is the npp unfortunately the EC cannot nurse their heart. We have crossed that bridge so they must just move on and focus on ball instead of the man. Thanks
