What has this thieving politician done to deserve our praises? He was a thief like all Ghanaian politicians who had looted from the state. May God forgive his soul.

Such is the subliminal farce of a nation bereft of common sense and intelligence. I have read the various tributes of Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, and not one, I mean, not one tribute highlights a monumental achievement of Jake besides holding prominent position and being in Kufuor's cabinet.
Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey wielded so much power in the Kufuor administration. He was the first Chief of Staff of the NPP administration (the closest anyone can get to the Presidency), then Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs (another plum cabinet position). This Jake finally became Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City, a great opportunity to put his imprint on Accra and its environs.
Despite these power and opportunities that were availed to Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, no one can point to one specific project in Accra or elsewhere that is synonymous to his name. Jake was in cabinet when JA Kufuor contracted a company in India to build $126 million plus Presidential Palace (Jubilee House) - a Palace that was budgeted initially for $30 million ended up costing the nation more than $100 million and still counting. Meanwhile, pay a visit to Korle Bu hospital and you will see patience (Ghanaians sleeping on the floors in the wards. There are no beds in our major hospitals, yet Jake was Minister of Modernization of the Capital City among other things. How could any patriotic Ghanaian shed tears for a man who had a great opportunity to help his people and his city, yet chose to be corrupt, perfidious, and contemptuous?
Jake stole enough money to guarantee himself a plush sanctuary in the state of the art London hospital money can buy - the best hospital in London. How many Ghanaians can afford to seek treatment in one of the most expensive cities in the world? I have said it, and will say it again, any politician who steals from the people like Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey did, and travel abroad to seek treatment will die, never to come back to steal again. I am pronouncing a curse on all politicians who steal from the poor people of Ghana and go abroad for treatment. They will all die in their hospital beds abroad.

No disrespect to the dead, but what really did he do in opposition that has really benefited Ghana?
Ghanaians are always playing sentimentalism with everything and do not apply objectiveness. smh
