The article showed the reason for the existence of black market is government's attempts to control the official exchange rate. The existence of black market suggests there is something wrong with exchange rate policy. The solution to the black market problem is a policy change--removal of the controls mentioned in the article. Law enforcement cannot be the answer.

You have written a very nice article, but my question to you is that is there any laws in the country and if there are any, do they work? Give the controlling of such activities to the police and see what will happen. The Bank of Ghana and local bank will not let the people and the businesses that need the foreign currencies have them. Even some banks and their staff are all involved in illegal activities within their bank's premises and will sell the money to you at a higher rate. My brother like l said earlier your article is a nice one buy nothing works in the country so your good advice will not go anywhere but end up in a trash can or dust bin.

If Ghanaians were law abiding citizens,we will not allow cows to roam in our cities as if there are no by laws regulating animal husbandry in the country. Grateful once again Alhaji for your article, hope relevant authorities will take action. God bless Ghana!
