Francis, I commend you for your attempt in President Mahama and the powerful gay lobby - Part 2, helping us to understand and appreciate the difficulties we face in coming to terms with the riddle of homosexuality. For me, this sexual orientation is something that is a mystery; scientifically, genetically, biblically, and culturally homosexuality is hard to explicate.
Our 1992 Constitution no doubt frowns on it homosexuality, vaguely is defined "as unnatural canal knowledge", and as you aptly pointed out " muddling the controversy even further ".
I really do become confused when the term sodomyi s used as a synonym for gay sex.
The "sin of Sodom" does refer to the story of Sodom & Gomorrah in Genesis, thus the biblical connection to homosexuality.
The problem lies with human rights, not with homosexuality. The Scottish Parliament conflated the two, & therefore, goofed in their attack on Mahama.

A person is not righteous or holy on account of what or with whom he/she has sex. Abraham himself is a product of incest because his father married his aunt. And Moses, while ranting against marriage to foreigners, married a Cushite. Indeed, most of the so-called patriarchs freely had sex with several women sometimes with the encouragement of their wives.
However, in our modern world, there is a compelling social reason to bar sexual relationship with certain blood relations; and mind you this is also on account of society's survival, not on account of any right or wrong that is intrinsic in such sexual relationship per se. And so strictly speaking, between two consensual entities, any bar to sex is per se malum prohibitum (i.e. an offense barred simply by statute); not malum in se (that is an offense barred on account of the act's inherent immorality).
Those quoting the Bible have never read the evil deeds of Moses and the Israelites from where terrorism actually originated. The place that bars gay sex also bars the eating of blood and fat upon pains of death, and the total obliteration of whole populations and the free plundering of nations perceived as evil. The Bible is indeed the classic manual for all evil deeds, with some appendix for scanty morality! If in doubt, read at least the books of Leviticus and Numbers.
Thus, society's constructive laws on universal issues of immorality make for freedom and progress; whereas its prohibition on cultural and religious grounds make for collective oppression and eventual retrogression.
Ghana's abolition of homosexuality will never resolve any of those daunting issues facing the country;but our focus on fighting corruption and promoting hard work and discipline will.
