It's all because of the tribal nature of our politics. South Africa doesn't have as much tribalism in their politics, they embrace their diversity. If we were to do the same thing we would advance far beyond many nations. The tribalism leads to corruption and hegemony, and that's what is keeping us behind.

Our politicians, both from the NPP and NDC are MIDIOCRE. They know very little other than stealing our national coffers to enrich themselves, their familie, and their cronnies. They do not know how to grow the economy to grow jobs and empower the people. Bawumia recently said, the infrastructural development being undertaken by President Mahama is useless because they do not create jobs. These are fundamental to any economic growth, which has long term benefits. Sorry Bawumia is playing politics with his education. Ghana needs patriots who would sacrifice themselves for its development.

The most rich in Ghana are the politicians, who, until their political debuts were never heard of as being rich. Even, those who were helped by farmers to put their houses together, suddenly became multi millionnaires. Nana Konadu Agyemang, the sacrosanct politician, stole over 700 acres of lands from chiefs of Adoagyiri and paid a pittance 3,000.00 Ghana Cedis for them. Politicians sell government bungalows and lands to themselves. What a country?

THE ndc have had 27 years of rule since the birth of Ghana in some 59 years ago with these same incompetent buffoons government who has a common goal; create, loot and share. Yet we have people like Prof Lungu, Francis Kwarteng, C.Y. Andy K and a host of educated idiots who are neither part of the ndc looting brigade but, for the hate of one tribe alone, want the NDC to remain in power to continue looting. Is it any wonder that Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of the President Commander in Thief, can boasts of hundreds of companies littered across the west African subregion with a workforce of well over 4500 workers, most of these companies came to existence in this short period that Mahama has been at the presidency. Even the Donald Trumps, Bill Gates......could not make monies in such a fast pace. But hear in Ghana, NDC serial callers, babies with Sharp Teeth and the standard seven Konkonte boys become millionaires over night, at the expense of the taxpayer, and these educated buffoons and some hopelessly poor Ghanaians seem not to bother about the fate of Ghana at all. Why won't any concern person cry for Ghana? My heart breeds when I see Ghanaians women, the Kayayes struggling under scorching sun to make ends meet. Yet these very victims are the one who don't care at all. They make the loudest edey-be-keke noise even when their necks are breaking from the inhumanly heavy loads on their heads. Is it a curse or abject stupidity?

Indeed, travel and see. You only saw the illustrious architects of that city, huh? Perhaps if you have dived deeper you would not shed tears for Ghana you would know that it takes time, time will tell as Bob Marley said. We often times become so myopic in our views about the things we see. But its not everything that glitters is gold. Ghana might have attained independence long before South Africa, but such comparison doesn't work, Do you know how much money has been poured into that country? Do you know what their colonial masters did, infrastructural wise, before leaving. I also rejoiced when i traveled to burkena faso, Benin, Napal, New york, Guana, etc. I had confidence in Ghana the first time i saw southern part of chicago.
Now, travel and see, huh? I have traveled to many countries and cities in the world due to the nature of my job and i always rejoice for Ghana. From Chicago to South Africa, across middle east and asia. And many many african cities, Ghana is beautiful too. It all depends on what you want to see and compare Ghana with. Our leaders may have failed us in so many things, but we also have to change our attitude as citizens. Our attitudes are killing us. Do not rush to blame the leaders please. For they are not from Mars, they were selected or elected from our societies or communities. we should expect much from them if we do not change.
Stop paying bribes, stop littering your environment, keep your city clean, stop insulting other tribes, respect others and their opinions, do the right thing even if no one is watching. stop all the bad things that do not help national development. Perhaps when we change our leaders will change with us. Our political leaders are not more than five million, so we should influence them. we are in majority sir......

This is your answer. The black person believes in only consumption and not investment. The black leadership in Africa are thieves, gluttons and cheats who use the military to suppress the people just to hang on to power. All that you see in South Africa was that bedazzles you were made during white rule. Now look at Zuma, he is the no 1 thief in South Africa. So until we get leadership that are real patriots Africa will remain what it is. Look At Ghana, a country so endowed. Yet "create, loot and share" by NDC bandits has ruined the country. And the root cause of all this was a foundation laid by Rawlings. It is coming home to roost. And in so far as we have this destructive, greedy, looting behavior by NDC thieves, Ghana will keep retrogressing.

Osuntawee,
You are just recycling the propaganda of the racist minority in South Africa that everything was done by them. You must be economically illiterate, for in order to produce anything, you need land, capital and LABOUR.
For 100 years, the whiteman used the blackman as a slave in South Africa. Black workers could not go on strike.
Black workers could not stay where they wanted to, because of the Pass Laws. So they took on jobs that made it legal for them to live in townships specifically constructed to make it easy for workers to be transported to where their work was needed.
Have you heard of labour reserves? Of Bantustans?
If every country in Africa could make slaves of its citizens and get away with it -- which the whites did in 100 years of racists rule -- you would see some wondrous developments in black Africa too. But man cannot live by bread alone. Yes, black African leaders have been generally corrupt and mediocre. But that will change with time.Racist oppression, on the other hand, would have lasted for ever had the black South Africans not made huge sacrifices. Ghanaians protested when the Big Six were detained by the British for a few weeks. What would we have done if Nkrumah had been jailed for 27 years? How could the 28 February 1948 protest taken place if the ex-servicemen had been obliged to carry "passes"?
Don't make ignorant comparisons, if you don't mind.
