You obviously don't know what quality of care is all about. If providers who are owed by NHIS for about 8 months are providing services, did you care to find out the type care and medicines the NHIS members are receiving? If a provider has not been paid that many months, how do you expect them to continue to fund the services and medicines they are providing?
You create the impression that NHIS members are not paying to receive care. That is a flat lie. People are paying to be seen. Providers are collecting money from NHIS members and also billing the NHIS for the same services. That is the reason why the claims are increasing but interest in and satisfaction about the NHIS are reducing.
The problem with the NHIS are inadequate funding and fraud; two things you woefully failed to mention in your report. What has happened to the NHIS Levy that Ghanaians pay everyday?
Why is the government not releasing 100% of it to run the NHIS? Why is government using the NHIS Levy to run government?
We should be honest when we report on the NHIS. Until the rot at NHIA and politicization of NHIS is stopped, the NHIS will continue to fail. While hospitals and clinics across the country are not paid, NHIA officials were making illegal monies for themselves. Why are some officials of the NHIA interdicted and being investigated by the BNI?
You also wrote Capitation can save the NHIS money. If Capitation is good and has been saving NHIS money in Ashanti region, why has the NHIA not implemented it in Upper East, Upper West and the Volta regions? NHIA has been talking about implementing capitation in the three regions over two years now. Is NHIA dragging its feet because we are in election year and the three regions vote overwhelmingly NDC?

Your article is crap. NHIA has not paid providers for over 8months and you think it is great. How about if we do not pay the NHIA staff for 8 months, will you find any one in their posh offices?. Think my brother.
