Mr Pobee Mensah is looking at this gun running issue from the wrong angle. My friend, if you are not aware, the armed robbery and the lawlessness in this pitiful failed state called Ghana has made it possible for this kind of buy and sell business.
The demand for guns by individuals in Ghana to protect themselves from armed robbery is exceedingly very high. Since the government is unable to protect its citizen what do you expect? Have you heard of Mr. JB Dankwah Adu who just got killed in his own bed, imagine if he had a gun under his pillow as he slept. I bet you just a buck, he will be alive today.
Let the whole world knows that once Ghana continue to be a failed state, and continue to import of terrorists and allow roaming of armed bands and criminals terrorizing people, this kind of "buy and sell" business is going to grow until we have a capable government that knows how to govern.

If we choose not to become criminals because police cannot reduce crime then how is it to act like the police or law enforcement and think it's okay? And if homeowners and others are truly law abiding why would people buy and keep illegally obtained firearms in violation of our laws? Criminals became what they are breaking criminal laws and we become criminals breaking the laws on gun possession.
Police will never prevent crimes any where on the face of earth until such a time there's a near zero unemployment. When people have work with pay that can support ones existence even if barely, there is bound to be no idle time at the end of a work day to go breaking into homes and or cars.

I am surprised some Ghanaians have a very wrong perspective of Atta's case. The fact of the matter is WHITEMAN'S DEMOCRACY does not work in Black Africa, and there is overwhelming evidence that Democracy has failed in Black Africa. In fact Law-enforcement is non-existent in Ghana.Attah's case is just a tip of the iceberg. How many Ghanaians in United States have smuggled weapons to Ghana? Now,What about the locally made guns and weapons, and weapons and ammuntions which are smuggled from neighbouring countries to Ghana daily? If armed robbers who have killed innocent people are arrested and freed by Ghana's corrupt judges to go back and kill more people, and those who are arrested in Ghana for smuggling weapons into Ghana are freed, then the independence of the JUDICIARY is no more relevant in LAW-ENFORCEMENT.There is no doubt Attah would have gone scot free if was arrested in Ghana. We need a true REVOLUTION in Ghana.

Democracy is meaningless to the Black African. All the three branches of Government EXECUTIVE,LEGISLATURE and JUDICIARY cannot function in Ghana and Law enforcement is non-existent.In fact Ghana is a nation in disarray. There is enough evidence that thousands of weapons in Ghana were smuggled from neighbouring countries, and nobody has ever been convicted of smuggling weapons to Ghana.Attah's case is insignificant.

If the government is not willing to protect Ghanaians, why do you think Ghanaians should not protect themselves by acquiring arms?
