Tafo is my second home in Kumasi and I am really appalled by the behavior of the Tafo Zongo residents. It took the indigenous citizens of Tafo hard work to make the place comfortable for these settlers to call it home and it is a slap in the face for these people to resort to this primitive behavior.
Tafo cemetery is the main and biggest cemetery in Kumasi and it is an insult for these people to wall the place up as if they brought the land from the North.
It might not come as a surprise to me if this is politically motivated by the Ndc supporters who are bent of making the impending limited registration exercise in Ashanti region a fearful exercise to intimidate the people from registering.
As the Writer said, we want peace in Tafo but these Moslems from the Zongo should not push their luck.

I'm a Northner from the Upper East Region of Ghana and throughout my whole life, 60 something years on this planet, I've been trying to drum this into the ears of my Southern friends to no avail.
The problem with most southners is that they don't care to know our tribes of origin when they befriend us.
They are happy and content to call us NTAFOUR, PEPEFOUR AND EVEN HAUSAS, even though Hausa is a tribe in Northern Nigeria.

What triggered the violence in Tafo, Kumasi? The Muslims in Tafo are "settlers" and "outsiders" in the Tafo area who have no right to land ownership in Kumasi-Tafo. The Tafo Chief and the indigenous inhabitants essentially own the Tafo lands. For whatever concern the Muslims have about their cemetery, the decision to build the fence around their cemetery without planning permission and approval by the Tafo Traditional Council is illegal.
Yes, the plots of the cemetery was allocated to the Muslims by the Tafo Chief. However, the decision by the Tafo Chief/Traditional Council to pull down the fence was unwise. There was the likelihood that action was going to cause tension or risks reprisal attacks. The Tafo Chief should have used court proceedings for the demolition.

In 2012, if the Chief of Hohoe... Togbe Gabusu had not fled from his palace, these same Muslims would have killed him. Luckily, he fled before these louts got to the palace and burned it down; destroying property, burning his cars; and running rampage through Hohoe.
Muslims do not respect their elders. And the elders cannot make any sense to the youth. Destruction and mayhem have take over their thinking.
