LET ME QUOTE THIS FROM YOUR ONE-IN-MILLION HONEST SOUTHERN ARTICLE(BCOS ONLY ONE IN A MILLION SOUTHERNERS RECOGNISE THE NORTHERNERS, WHO IN ALL TRUTH ARE FIVE SOLID TIMES BETTER MORALED AND BETTER HUMBLED ETC. THAN THEIR TRIBALISTIC SOUTHERN COUNTERPARTS).
"The thought of how compassionate and self-sacrificing icons of the North like President Limann and neurosurgeon Mustapha were handled and treated by southerners who wielded such absolute state power and could have made a well-deserved difference in their lives but wickedly refused to do so and left them to die in penury still haunts me as an individual and how much more those who bear the brunt of such discrimination and rejection?
ASANTES OUT OF THE GENERAL SOUTHERN TRIBALISTS, ARE DOING THEMSELVES A GREAT DISSERVICE IN GHANA BIG TIME BY THEIR PROUD FOR NOTHING ATTITUDE SINCE 1958. INSTEAD OF ADDRESSING WHAT HAS BECAOME THEIR BIGGEST ARCHILES HEEL, THE LACK OF EDUCATION AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE - THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE. THEY HAVE BECOME THE LEAST EDUCATED IN GHANA(IF THEY WERE NOT B4) AND ARE AGGREVIATING IT BY SUCH FALSE AND BASELESS AND EVEN UNTHINKING CLAIMS THAT "GHANA NEEDS A NATIONAL LANGUAGE", INFERING THAT TO BE THEIR CHEAP AND WEAK AND GRAMMERLESS AND RICHLESS LANGUAGE.
LET ME STOP HERE. I HAVE MUCH ADVICE FOR THE ASANTES BUT THEY ARE TOO PROUD FOR NOTHING THAT THEY CAN'T SEE THE LOG IN THEIR OWN EYES.

Limann's time, most people went along because he was in charge. If people were saying he will soil the castle with kola nuts I will not be surprised because if he were another tribe they will accuse him of other things such as eating fufu, akple, kenkey, frying kenan, etc. Dont's get all worked up. Let's rise up above these petty people who use tribe against us. You also forget it was not Asante's who abandoned Limann, so your anger is wrongly directed. And regarding a national language, if choosing a language such as Hausa is what is good for Ghana, so be it. As an Akan I will be all for it. Thanks. We are all one people.

I would like to also point out that the PNP was a political party borne out of the former CPP of President Nkrumah. A former Government Minister of the CPP, the late Honourable Mr Krobo Edusei, was also a prominent member of the PNP, played a large role in ensuring that
Mr Hilla Limann became the Party Leader and then President. Mr Krobo Edusei was an Ashanti, born in the Ampabame Village of Kwabre District.
Please feel free to check these facts with anyone who was a member of the PNP and it will be verified. Mr Krobo Edusei also has a biography page on Wikileaks which also briefly mentions his involvement with the PNP, after the CPP.
Facts are facts and History cannot be rewritten.
Northerners and Akans worked closely together in harmony to win power for the PNP, there was no tribal issues then and so why highlight them now. My Mother's Family hail from the same Ampabame Village as Mr Krobo Edusei. Nuff Said.

You're right about Krobo Edusei but he was a lone Asante who defied his tribesmen to follow Nkrumah.
It is still true that the tribe that likes to think itself the biggest and hegemons were against Limann.

The Limann case is very sad but his overthrow cannot be put to a north south divide. Even the article says as much - there were northern elements who were vital in contributing to his overthrow.
But Limann was an accidental president. The man did not come down to be president but an MP and found himself thrust with the position. The northerners rejoiced at one of their own, the ewes supported then rather than have an Akan leading the country.
The seeds of tribalism have always been there in our country. It never took a diabolical turn even during the Nkrumah and NLC times. It did during Busia's tribal tinged campaign and rule. It went into recess during the Acheampong regime only to resurface somehow during the Third Relublic. Then Rawlings worsened it and Kufuor worsened it even more.
Now we're seeing it metastizing again with a slightly different strain. This year's elections will be fought on a tribal basis as usual. The Nkrumaist parties are divided and in no way ready to offer any credible alternative. It's looking like Nkrumah, Limann and other heroes died in vain. We're not learning anything.
I remember, as a student of P. A. V. Ansah, his utter disdain for military regimes...
